Would you prefer him to be an Osprey, as ROTF had marketed his toy as: Image:ROTF Springer concept.jpg - Transformers Wiki

Or would you like to see him as a feasible Triple Changer, a fusion of an Attack Copter and a Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck?

And he should be voiced by his original voice of Neil Ross.

In BayFormers his alt mode would be a Slinky.

    Jokingly: A pogo-stick.

Seriously: V-22 Osprey. That's such a sweet design.

As for his voice-actor, there's a lot of choices. Neil Ross' G1 voice had a certain charm to it, but I wouldn't be opposed to having a different VA.

    Osprey.

    And he'd be blue.

So, it's the general consensus that it's impossible for him to be a Triple-Changer?

I like the idea of an osprey but I would really like to see him as a Chinook.

I'd like a unusual copter like the aforementioned Osprey, Chinook, or QTR. Blackout already did the 'typical' heli.

What was his 3rd mode, a car? Like we need more of those.

^ Loved that design. Shame we only got him in a Legends toy.

I'd like him to be an Osprey, but I wouldn't be opposed to another helicopter, since on the scale, Springer dwarfs the other Autobots, and is about as big as Jetfire.

Well, maybe not impossible. Nothing's impossible. If the design team can make combiners, Reedman, the Driller, etc. a reality on screen, a triple changer isn't out of the question. It's just that the only live-action triple-changing we've seen has been Megatron "metal shard tank/metal shard tank with wings" mode and Stealth Force Modes (kind of).

But it'd be rather silly, depending on how you want him to be a triple changer. I'm assuming you're referring to him being a helicopter and a car, right? Well, let's take a look at that Osprey design. Now imagine him transforming from that 50 foot Osprey into...what? A 50 foot Ford Taurus? No? Okay, so shrinking down into a 15 foot Ford Taurus? How would it work? They'd have to choose a small enough aircraft to be able to logistically transform into a normal sized automobile. Unless they went for the "Cybertronian vehicle"-route that Megatron had. Either way, something loses realism.

    Well, it's sort of a steel blue/silver/gray. :p

I dunno - when I look at that artwork I kinda see they might've ended up using the robot mode design for Dlx Blazemaster as well. Different alt mode, yeah, but the robot modes just look so alike. Just compare the head on that artwork with the head on the Blazemaster toy and tell me they're not the same design.
And considering how little love the Blazemaster figure gets maybe it's best to use a different robot design for Springer.
