The only one I remember as a kid had the dinobots in it. All the artwork was based off of the toys and the end involved hundreds of dinobots flying out of a tar pit.... or something.

Damn. Haven't thought about that in 20 years or so. Thanks for the blast of nostalgia

I'm not sure but I'll go ahead and say no, now that I think about it. It was one of my favorite books though, so it came to mind first.

Thanks to my good friend Marc I got the tape for the obscure Transformers storybook Sun Raid. I have successfully converted the story to a pair of MP3 files and planned to post them ASAP, but then I found out that Comcast's FTP service is down for maintenance, and I can't upload new files for the next week!

Some of the obscure highlights include:

the "red truck" named "Cliff Jumper" goes from invisible stalker of ladies on road to a robot.
Ravage transforms from panther to "robot" during a fight!
Starscream leads the "Deceptiplanes" into battle.
    Snarl commanding the Dinobots.
The Decepticons plan to use a machine to drain the sun of energy (where have I seen that plot before?)
A female scientist who acts like Barbie could beat her in a math quiz.
"Mister Prime", leader of the Autobots.
The actual TV series Transformation sound used in an audio story!
A cameo by America's greatest President (IMO).

I put the audio to pictures of the cover (no pages yet) and posted the videos to youtube. So take a listen.

No, these are made by licensed book companies in the 80s. The companies were given a general storyline by Hasbro, and told they could make books with Transformers stories in them. The book companies didn't have access to the voice actors, or a license to use the TV show sound effect or music, so they had to come up with thier own, but technically these stories are just as official as any Marvel Transformers comic or Sunbow TV series.

Different companies did them in different countries from '84 to about '89. Some are pretty hard to find, so I thought putting them on Youtube would help people.

    Ah, happy days... :)

Funny this thread should come back as there was a very interesting documentary on BBC4 last night about the history of the Ladybird books. Of course it only focused on the vintage ones so licensed stuff like the Transformers ones never got a mention, but it was still cool to see the old 'Make and Do' book and the like from back when I was a nipper.
