Same as title. What was the first Nemesis Prime toy produced?
The first toy to actually be named Nemesis Prime was the one from Armada. The first "black and teal evil Prime" toy was Black Lioconvoy from BW2. RiD Scourge, the most popular one that really got the trend going, was released in between.
I wish they would have stuck with the name Scourge. Nemesis Prime sounds dumb and clumsy.
Does anyone know if there are drastic differences with the Takara D-012 Scourge reissue and the Hasbro RID Scourge versions?

Thanks Omnius!! You are the man!!
Thanks, I probably could have quoted that from memory given how well I know the toy(s).
I disagree. I can't rectify Scourge as a Prime repaint when I know Scourge as the Unicronian soldier. And the alternative, his japanese name Black Convoy, is just too bland. I was glad when Hasbro came up with the Nemesis name, cos it filled what I considered to be an obvious hole in the character. (I wish they would've made a new name for Cybertron Scourge too, for the same obvious reasons).
But if you don't like Nemesis Prime, what would be an alternative. Obsidian Prime? That would denote the blackness while being a more elaborate word...
I thought Nemesis Prime was a bit... obvious myself. Obsidian Prime, on the other hand, I like the sound of.
Maybe Thanatus Prime, or just plain Thanatus.
Octantis Prime if you want to be clever without alluding to his evil nature.
hence my user name inspired by RID Scourge
Now I really like Octantis Prime.
What, Blackimus Prime wasn't good enough?
So, to be clear, Scourge was the first black repaint of any optimus figure?
JAFCON black G1 Convoy from 2000?
Depends on what you do and don't consider an Optimus figure. Black Lio Convoy was released in 1998, and had the same 'black and teal' that most of the later Black Primes would have (Black Big Convoy and Black Fire Convoy didn't have teal)
Well, I consider almost any Convoy/Optimus/Primal to be some form of optimus prime, I'm not terribly picky about this.
For the people who know the Japanese stuff, were their various black repaints actually separate, evil characters or were they still the same heroic characters who just happened to be painted black?
I think Scourge was the first repaint that was actually a separate individual character.
in japanese lore the majority of black primes are black convoy where he is good.
its more of an american thing to do the nemesis prime.
i would not consider any black convoys to fit this thread in questions even if the colors on some of these repaints suggest otherwise.
if you are looking for legit released scourge/or nemi primes...
bw 2 black lioconvoy (nemesis)
armada nemesis prime
micron legend nemesis prime
alternators nemi prime
binaltech wonderfest nemesis black convoy
universe nemesis prime, big convoy from bw neo repaint target exclusive
robot masters black exclusive lio convoy (nemesis)
Universe Nemesis Prime, classics voyager mold from SDCC
Car Robots Scourge
Spychangers from RID scourge
RID deluxe scourge KB toys exclusive
if the mold was released in the same line as the US and Japan there has usually been significant difference.
technically its RID scourge, but the first one with the name is either the universe big convoy repaint named nemesis prime or the armada one.
Separate names with a comma.
