so of course, my fiancee never watched any anime/transformers shows/cartoons before meeting me. we now pretty much are always in the middle of some series, and over dinner last night, we go to talking about what it is that she's seen, and it ended up being a huge list. when we met, beast wars was just coming out on dvd, so I got her to watch those with me, which she loved. after that, it went like this:

    beast machines
    galaxy force
    masterforce
    gundam 00
    clone wars
    samurai champloo
    wings of honneamise
    grave of the fireflies
    ghost in the shell sac
    sdf macross
    macross zero
    macross plus
    macross frontier

and now we're watching gargolyes. she said that if anyone had asked her, she wouldn't have said that she was an anime fan. but judging by this list, I'd say I've turned her, at least a little. :)  anyone else gotten their special person to start watching shows with them?

I got my wife into watching Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Gunslinger Girl, Mighty Max, the Beetlejuice cartoon series and The Animals of Farthing Wood. In turn, she got me into watching Samurai Jack, Ranma 1/2 and The Simpsons.

My wife much prefers her reality shows and Lifetime movies over my cartoon-watching habit. She either watches TV in the bedroom or I do when one of us has something we *must* watch on our 50-inch TV.

Following are the only cartoons she'll actually watch with me:

    Robot Chicken
    The Boondocks
    King of the Hill
CGI movies that "don't look stupid" (her words), which basically means Pixar and some Dreamworks

She's watched TFA with me once -- said she didn't like the animation style and dismissed it.

My girlfriend got me into Dr. Who, and I introduced her to the 2003 TMNT. We both like Transformers, so no problems there. In fact, when I met her, she owned a shirt to the Japanese poster to TFTM '96, which I have always wanted. So, at least she was into the one show I love. The others are just icing.

Don't have a S.O., but i try to get involved with my nieces and my friends' kids.

i am proud that the nieces have sat and enjoyed:
    B:TAS
    JLU
    Tiny Toon Adventures
    Animaniacs
    2 Angry Beavers
    the old D&D cartoon
    TF:A
    Freakazoid
and i have slid some more mature stuff in on them:
Ghost in the Shell (movie, not the series)
Wings of Honnemise (spelle it wrong i bet)
    Blood the Last Vampire

    and a couple Gundam things.

The other kids? well, since they are boys and like anything with violence, it has been mainly BTAS, JLU and TFA. when the volumes start rolling out, i will get the G1 Transformers series and introduce them to Sunbow goodness!

Oh, the nieces have gotten me to sit and enjoy at least 2 shows that i had dismissed:
    The Fairly Oddparents (awesomesauce)
Powerpuff Girls (sue me, it is good.)

I don't have it on DVD yet, but Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo and Dexter's Laboratory are some others i want to share with 'em.

Oddly, the only time the wife won't insist that I turn the channel from cartoons to something else is when some absolutely brainless Adult Swim cartoon is showing; like ATHF, Superjail, even that insipid Xavier: rouge angel or whatever it's called. She won't LET me change the channel if Adult Swim is showing one of those.

She's absolutely mesmerized by things that don't make sense. She's astounded by the sheer stupidity and can't get over how messed up it all is.

The only "normal" cartoon she watches is King of the Hill.

    You sir, are awesome.

The sad thing is, most of those characters would die. Today is the anniversary of Badger's death. RIP.

When we were still together, I got her to watch Trigun, South Park, Futurama, the old 80's Super Mario Bros Cartoon, and Family Guy. She especially got into South Park, surprisingly.
