So I'll be done with school in 6 weeks and I'll soon be looking for a full time job here in sacramento. I'll be doing automotive work, what exactly I don't know, but I can get a job in general repairs, diesel, or upholstery. I'm just wondering what to expect, I've never had a real job before, only one that was on the books was at a grocery store, besides that I always got paid under the table for doing anything I could get my hands on. I know this question is probably pretty vague, but any advice would help. Especially with interviews, that's pretty new to me as well.

Depends on if you consider what you do a "job" or a "career".

In interviews, try to be confident. That sounds a bit simple, but it is critical. Confidence and the ability to BS count for more than actual ability in this world.

Expect a lot of bullshit. Just like every job you've ever had.

Sunday nights are depressing. Don't want to go to sleep, next morning comes too fast.

That's when you know you like your bed. It's so comfortable when you know you have to get up.

My first job was washing dishes in a mexican restaurant. Job sucked and I had many dreams of working, then I'd wake up and realize I didn't actually get paid for the work I did :)

But what you can expect is getting paid! Which is usually awesome :)  money=good

Expect some degree of disappointment. This may not come immediately.

There's a huge difference between doing what you enjoy and doing what you just need to do for money. If you do the former, expect to feel rewarded and proud, and if you do the latter, enjoy your time off while looking for something better.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life. But it's not all bad, you will meet a-holes that you have to work with, and you'll meet good people that you'll get to work with. You will probably gain a new circle of friends which is a cool thing, plus $$$.
Have fun on the good days, and think of the good days when your having a bad day.

Have patience right now. It is very tough to get a job right now. Their are people with bachelor's and master's degrees applying for secretary jobs because they are so depserate. Don't get discuouragered. Be patient and don't think that their is something wrong with you. Once you get on the job you also need patience because their are alot fo different personalities at any job and some will clash. Their is always some level of shit you have to put with, whether you are at the top, or at the very bottom.

This. And remember at all times... If you want to be successful and move up in the company and make more money, then are their dog. A dog of the corporate entity.
