Roughly 1 out of 10 of my Transformers purchases (both on eBay and here) arrive with undisclosed damage. Usually, the broken part isn't in the package, so the damage was clearly prior to shipping (once there was glue from an attempted fix). I've had it happen from a cheap Minicon, all the way to a rare Japanese exclusive. And I have NEVER found the proper way to deal with it. Sellers get immediately nasty when I bring it up. I've taken to leaving negative feedback, walking away, and eating small losses... but still not sure what to do for the expensive rare ones.

Any good tips out there? I'm sure I'm not alone.

Dispute it. I've won several times. I once bought an encore starscream tht had touch ups done with nail polish. unbelievable. I got my money back.

1 out of 10? Wow. The only things I've ran into is undisclosed smoking but I can live with that. Good luck with disputing if it happens again.

While not Transformers-related, I once received a video game magazine with twenty-pages torn out! The seller refunded my money, but I was satisfied anyway because I only bought the magazine for one infamous review that was still intact.

I'm wondering why you wouldnt raise a dispute on ebay or try to settle the problem with a member on here (possibly returning it). If 10% of my figures arrived broken I certainly wouldnt eat the cost.

If it happened to me I would dispute that sucker so fast...

The problem comes (on eBay certainly) when you have to return the item at your own expense.

Check their feedback before buying, perhaps? I only ever buy from sellers with very, very high feedback. Even if it seems like a good seller, if they have 35 people out of 350 saying they're crap for a variety of issues I stay away. Also notice the stars - if they're bad on the packaging front, don't buy.

I've only ever had one Transformer arrive broken - an Activators Thundercracker that was photographed in vehicle mode and sent that way as well. When I transformed him I found he was missing his head! Seller was very apologetic and refunded me immediately. I always find if you're polite to them, they tend to be polite back.

this is true. Not to mention a 90% positive feedback is ABSOLUTELY horrible. Anything less than 99% is unacceptable.

Cry. JK. It's has only happened to me once and on ebay. Guy shipped my G1 Blitzwing in a condom box (literally) and in jet mode on top of that. The box came smashed and one of the wings was broken. We couldn't come to an agreement so I just left him negative feedback and had to buy a junker to fix mine.

If its a brand new toy try giving Hasbro a email. I got a deluxe ice cream twins froma convention here only to find that Mudlfap didn't have ahead (some may say an improvement!), sent Hasbro UK an email, explained that is was a convention purchase so I couldn't get a refund and they sent me out a new set.

This was from a time when I wasn't even sure they'd be out in the UK as well.
