Hey folks, here is my predicament. Yes, 3rd world problems and all, but I need your help to settle this internal debate. I'm a huge toon fan and love the current direction of the MP line, but when it comes to some characters their toys were more special to me than the cartoon characters I wasn't too familiar with. Grapple was one of those, so I borrowed some pieces from Artfire to make him a little more toy accurate. Naturally I'd like to go full-on toy, and give Grapple yellow eyes. The question is what shade of yellow? This would also be the same yellow that I'd like to use for the eyes of Blue Bluestreak, Tigertrack, and an eventual Red Sunstreaker, to set up a toy-crew to be carried by Delta Magnus. The case for Camel Yellow: This is a slightly more orangey yellow. 1. It better matches the yellow eyes seen in some of the G1 box-art: 2. It also matches the yellow eyes on 1985 transformers, like Grapple here: 3. It also matches the yellow of Delta Magnus's eyes: Having said that, the yellow in Blue Bluestreak's box-art is a little bit brighter: 4. However, the sticker sheet that came with G1 Bluestreak has those yellow stripes (which look like the same shade as his eyes and horns) on the shoulders, and they look quite like this more orangey shade: 5. An eventual Red Sunstreaker might come with this shade of yellow for his 'ears' (assuming his eyes will be painted blue), like the shade on MP-39's ears: The case for Yellow: 1. Again, that sticker sheet for Bluestreak has the yellow stickers for his thighs that better match this yellow. 2. All of the 1984 bots with yellow eyes had a yellow much more like this one: 3. Bluestreak, Tigertrack and Red Sunstreaker are definitely S1/1984 bots in my mind, so maybe they should have this brighter yellow for their eyes? 4. This yellow would also better match the yellow Nonnef eyes I gave my custom toy-accurate MP-10: So what to do? Help me out with the poll or in comments, all thoughts appreciated
I'd tend to lean towards the darker shade, but given that the figure is already an orangey-yellow, it might blend in a bit too much and end up looking kind of awkward. You can always try one and if you don't like it, remove the paint and try the other. Thankfully paint isn't permanent
Yes fortunately I can try both out! As of right now I'm leaning towards giving Grapple and Tigertrack the Camel Yellow eyes, but I think I'll have to give Bluestreak the Yellow eyes: I didn't realise how orange those arm stripes are - completely different from his eyes! I think the brighter yellow will go better with his blue.
Camel yellow if you want it to be like the g1 toy. Yellow if you want him to match your mp10. Im divided on which lol.
Yeah you might be on the money. Think I'll go Camel Yellow with most of them, but I'm not sure anything but regular yellow will work with Bluestreak!
