Critics have argued that ROTF panders tp the lowest denominator: the brainless fanboy who cannot appreciate fine move making. I don't buy that. For my part, I enjoy both frat boy humor and serious stuff. Why don't we share our tastes here, so we can see whether everyone is an 11 year-old having wet dreams to CG robots? Or if we can switch between arty stuff and Bayhem easily.

5 films I really like (amongst many) are :

    - Sunshine (Scifi, 2007)
    - Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (Comedy, 2004)
    - Lilya 4-Ever (Drama, 2006)
    - Tenku no Shiro Laputa (Anime, 1986)
    - The Descent (Horror, 2004)

Good one. The lists' point is to show that we are not just glassy-eyed TF fans.

Yeah, I can really like just about anything for any reason. That, and I contemplated film school when I was in my twenties.

Yup. It is great to see a lot of range in movie taste. It doesn't all have to be Oscar-nominated. just "good," whatever that is.

I'm confused. Is the point to list good movies that we like, or movies that the critics panned yet we like them anyways?

ARTHOUSE MOVIE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF
FOREIGN MOVIE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF
"DEEP" ANIME YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF

    List = complete!

    Correct, yes they have.

Incorrect, I don't think that anyone has stated this or implied it. Some may have said Fanboys, others "brainless idiots" but I don't think anyone has blamed it on brainless fanboys that are unable to appreciate fine movie making. That's a pretty fucking big leap of logic.

Anyway, life's easier if you don't get so defensive about a piece of shit movie. A relatively entertaining piece of shit, but still a piece of shit. Guess what fanboys - some things about Transformers are not perfect. You don't have to blindly defend it to the grave.

I don't watch a lot of movies, since there are a number of genres I have no interest in (comedies, "true stories", Oscar-bait, most drama, sports films, chick flicks, etc). My short list of 'favorites' is basically all sci-fi or fantasy:

    - The Dark Knight
    - Wall-E
    - The Incredibles
    - The Nightmare Before Christmas
    - Edward Scissorhands
    - Transformers (2007)
    - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
    - Miyazaki films (dubbed)
    - Perfect Blue (dubbed)
    - Dark City
    - Event Horizon
    - The Matrix (the first one)
    - Lord of the Rings
    - Terminator II (theatrical cut)
    - The Thing
