What other classic 80s toys need revisionist remakes?

We've gotten Classics versions of Transformers, He-Man and 20th Anniversary GI Joes. All three had new designs of classic characters but with modern looks and styling. They are (for the most part) much improved versions of the toys we grew up on. Even WWF wrestlers have gotten classic wrestlers done in the new style. Some lines like Transformers and TMNT have been around since they started but have evolved.

So what toy lines (most likely dead ones) would you like to see resurrected and given new life? How would you design them?

One I'd like to see reborn would be C.O.P.S.. The cartoon would need an overhaul but I think it could work. I'd give the characters a Marvel Legends style look. 6 inches of massive detailing. I got the DVD set and think many of the characters would be incredible in the new style. One thing I'd drop is the cap gun gimmick. Cap gun stuff is old and way outdated. Here is how I'd do some of the figures:

Dr. Badvibes - The crazy scientist would be given a white science suit instead of the faint yellow. Also loose the cone head look but still keep the exposed brain dome. He'd be packed with Buzzbomb the robot

Mace - Keep the same look. I'd make a variant head of him with a huge grin. He'd come with his bazooka, a machine gun, and a doughnut.

Bowser - K9 officer would keep a similar look. Would be packed with a somewhat poseable Blitz, the robotic k9.

Buttons McBoomBoom - My fave. He'd come with a guitar case with a Tommy gun that can fit into it. His suit jacket could pop open and his chest would flip down revealing his chest cannons.

And so on... The characters were fairly decent (well most of them), but the cartoon was a little weak. Toy line had a cool (for the time) cap gun gimmick. I think they deserve to be remade into a better version.

Second line that needs a remake line is MASK. Come on it was a kick ass toy line and concept that is still a great idea. Look how far transformers has come since the 80s. No imagine that done with something like MASK. I'd keep the toys roughly the same size.

Third Line that needs a remake is Thundercats. In Toyfare a guy has done custom versions of Thundercat characters using ML bodies. They look incredible! I want new versions using the ML level of poseability. It is simple to just give them their classic weapons. I'd make WilyKit and Kat each come with their hoverboards.

So what all do you want see done and how?

I would like to see Sectaurs come back. I would like to see more of the insect or arachnid traits pushed to make the figures more scarier and expand the universe to include others that didn't the figure form the first time out.

Dino Riders. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, we need new Dino Riders. Dinosaurs and laser beams? Whoever came up with that is a god among men.

Thundercats could totally make a comeback. I really liked that new He-Man show from a few years back and always thought that style of animation would really suit the T'Cats. I think it's just a really cool concept.

I've always been a Gatchaman/Battle Of The Planets/G-Force fan and I think that could really catch on again too. I've got all of the new Gatchaman box sets, but I miss the hell out of that original BoTP theme song. I know there's a new animated movie coming from the people that made TMNT so maybe it will make a comeback afterall.

I loved the early GI Joe miniseres, when the Joes were a mostly believable military outfit, before the movie and before it became a bad sci fi cartoon. Sigma 6 is ok, but it's just not the same. I'd love to see something new based on the 20th anniversary figures.

And there's so much potential in the Ghostbusters franchise, it's not even funny. The Real Ghostbusters was pretty good, but I'd love to see something a little more dramatic and grown up. Hopefully the GB3 game will revitalize this franchise. My friend and I always thought a Ghostbusters: The Next Generation type of concept would work really well with David Spade, Chris Farley, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler.

Chris was scheduled to be filming Ghostbusters 3 which was shelved when he died. Who knows, if it was a hit, you might've seen a lineup like that for 4.

Though I'm sure they wouldn't be commercial successes, I'd like to see Wheeled Warriors get another chance. The boring packaging and the confused launch at stores killed it before J. Michael Straczynski's stories and characters had a chance.

Also, Visionaries. Changing the holograms to something more today, like online gaming access or something could make it interesting. I liked the show. Though they only made about 13 episodes, you can't lose in the 80s with that Hasbro/Sunbow group with Cullen and Latta and the gang doing voices with Flint Dille and the boys scripting.

Stuff I'd like to see, but most people probably don't care. :)

Thundercats definitely could do with a make-over.

I would also like to see Ghostbusters come back.

I really liked the 2001 MOTU reboot. I think a new Thundercats is LONG overdue, and the new character design possibilities are endless. If you did them over in ML/MOTU style, where we drop the 80s styling, the potential for cat/human character designs could be amazing. Not to mention a new, terrifying MumMRaaaaa.....

Also, Bionic Six was great. Lost in Space might have potential, and Voltron CANNOT make enough comebacks to suit me.

All the reboots got better after the late 90s "X-TREME" craze was over.

    And Captain N... Just kidding.

We'll be getting crappy A Team toys soon enough I'd suppose, what with the new movie and all.
