childhood nostalgia, since I was five when i first saw beast wars.
I was always too broke to buy any, but looking back at the toys of the era, I'm glad I didn't have them.
What brought me back into collecting them was buying a classics rodimus on a whim.
I liked the body, and the paint scheme on it. After a couple of years and several jobs later. I got into collecting them since I love the serious work that went into the engineering of the new classics line.

basically what happened to me. I think dad saw some trailers or clips of the movie and when i rented the '07 movie he watched it. i think he mainly likes the live action movies cuz of the military stuff and mayb the sci-fi part.

this is almost exactly what happened to me as well. i don't even remember going to the theatre or anything, cause i was just seeing "another action movie," but i was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the special effects and everything, mostly just the concept of transforming cars. that scene when Optimus first transforms & says "My name is Optimus Prime" is engrained in my head forever. i think Peter Cullen's voice is what drew me in too, i was like "wow what a voice, who is this guy???"

then i did my research, read about the other series, started watching G1 - fell in love with it. i think i watched Animated next, and i loved it too. then gradually watched some other old ones - Armada, a few Beast Wars episodes, even Headmasters (which I enjoyed!). and now i'm following Prime and it's just amazing. Transformers has become such a huge part of my life, really. :D

While i had briefly caught glimpses of Beast Wars when i was 4 & got an RiD X-Brawn when i was 6, the series that really got me into Transformers was Armada. I remember watching that every day after school, and while people may the show may have suffered rushed animation and dodgy dubbing it still holds a special place in my heart. I actually remember always calling him "Octomus" until i got the toy (the version that came with the trailer). Since the first movie i've been looking up TFwiki and other Transformers info sites looking up all the other shows & continuities. Now i've seen G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, RiD, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Animated, all 3 Bay films and all of Prime so far.
Now i've joined a great news/discussion site of people who share the same basic interest of a waring alien race of autonmous robots who transform into things and the adventures that follow. Guess it goes to show you that even the most mediocre show can bring in some of the biggest fans.

Kids will play with toys. In 1984, I was 11, and when Transformers came on the scene, my Gobots just didn't feel as cool anymore.

I was born in 1974, in the UK and transformers started as a morning cartoon. I used to look forward to seeing this, which i believe was every weekend. I mean, robots that turned into cars. How cool was that. The comics were a boost for them, and when marvel car to RedGates (a huge toy shop), the drew pic for the fans. i wished I still had them now. Oh, and the toys, you had two for the price of one. Every boy loves a robot, especially when they turn into something else. To polish the experience off for me, they made the transformers the movie. It was the coolest movie ever from my childhood. Finally got back into it approximately 7yrs ago when some guy actually bought my brother for his wedding present an MP Optimus Prime. I had never seen an G1 MP transformers and it blew me away. So now I kitbash MP's for fun to build my unique collction up.

    Im totally hooked now.......

I collected Micronauts and Diakron toys before it, so it seemed natural to get Transformers... even if Trailbreaker, Ironhide and Sunstreak were the wrong color and missing their drivers!
