They had a Salvador Dali exhibit last year here in PHilly plus some of the unfinished work he did with Walt Disney. It was pretty neat

I'm always late getting into music that was 'cool' a decade ago. I recently just got into Marilyn Manson (not for his antics but his music) and NIN (saw them live at the end of last month and nearly crapped myself in joy). I guess the newest band I've really gotten heavily into is Disturbed...I had the first two albums and thought they were decent, but after Ten Thousand Fists came out last September I already wore out one original copy and a burned copy of the album and had to buy a replacement CD. Most of the 'new' music that has come out recently sounds like absolute shit to me. I never listen to the radio for that reason, I just listen to my CDs.

These two guys that dress up like robots and go by the name Daft Punk. Pretty imaginitve stuff. I remember seeing their video "Around the World" back in the 90's and liked it, but I could never catch the name of the artists that did it. Thanks to Youtube, I found out and like what I've heard so far.

If you like Daft Punk, do a search (on youtube OR on amazon.com) for "Intastella 9999" - it's a 1-hour (or so) fully-animated movie done by the guy who did Galaxy Railways and some of Macross...all to one of the Daft Punk albums. It's AMAZING.

I recently rediscovered the group Jim's Big Ego a few weeks ago, and for the life of me I can't remember how I discovered them the first time around or why I forgot about them.

Gnarls Barkley and Dropkick Murphy's are the two bands I've most recently started listening to. Both are among my favorites now.

You're off just slightly. As mentioned by others, it's 5555. Also, Leiji Matsumoto didn't, to my knowledge, have anything to do with Macross, besides a bit of inspiration through his own original works. What you're probably thinking of is that Noboru Ishiguro, who directed a large part of "Space Battleship Yamato" which was created by Leiji Matsumoto was also the main director of the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross which was created by Shoji Kawamori and Studio Nue. In that way, one of Matsumoto's projects is related to Macross, but Interstella 5555 is not, unless in some way I'm not aware of.

Also, for fricks sake, you can get the Interstella 5555 DVD for $10 US or less. Screw YouTube and buy a copy. It's more than worth it.

I've been visiting Cori Yarckin's site and thinking about getting her album. It's modern rock/alternative and she's got a good voice, not to mention a cute face and killer body. ;)

AMEN! Been a fan of DP since their humble beginnings, but only managed to get my hands on this movie a little over a year ago. Needless to say it is now one of my faves.

And anyone uttering the word "Electronica" in this thread: DIES. :mad

Nothing no one else hasn't heard, but as a "Metal" guy I've recently discovered I can still be content listening to much more laid back music like ambient electronic stuff, or even...dare I say it, various "pop" artists

What the hell is "electronica" anyway? I'm lost on all the sub genres of electronic music. I can't even classify the crap I make properly.

'Electronica' is a clever word that Americans thought up to categorise most every single type of dance/techno/rave/progrock/hardcore/house/garage/hardcore/trance and whatnot coming out of europe. Usually used to describe The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and the aforementioned Daft Punk, and pisses the fuck off any dance music enthusiast who just happens to live on *that* side of the Atlantic.

It's gotten so bad in the worldwide dance music community that if Americans even as much as utter the words "Electronica" in the presence of Europeans, there is bound to be a scuffle. (Except at the annual Miami Winter Music Conference, for most Americans who even know what that is, let alone those attending, know enough about dance music to *NOT*make that mistake.)
