    with the general disdain for remakes we have around here, what movie would you actually like to see remade? here my short list, off the top of my head;

the black hole - i loved this as a kid but the robots, in particular the good guy robots were too cheesy. this would rock with the effects available now.
    ...black hole, hehe.
dirty dozen - new era, new conflict, same old bastards. everyone dies. not enough good guys die in movies these days.
howard the duck - yes, im serious.

ah, thats all i got for now.

When I saw the title I immediately thought The Black Hole -for all the reasons KA enumerated.

I know it is a pipe dream, but King Kong Vs. Godzilla would so rock.
Give it to Peter Jackson -edit 40 minutes of character development for background characters out and it would be perfect.

    Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Oh yeah, I remember The Black Hole. It had those cheesy floating garbage can robots and that big dark red robot that had quasi-inexistent articulation.

None. I can't think of a movie remake that's ever come close to the original. The Italian Job, I'm looking at you...

Remake? There are several that could use an update but some older movies really should be in a class by themselves, like E.T for instance, it seems like anymore everytime a movie or TV show has been adapted for the big screen, they go overboard with either language or sexuality(yeah go ahead and let me have it for saying that!!) and it, to ME anyway, cheapens the whole idea of what the original stood for. 10 years from now, they'll be wanting to remake Spider Man, and the whole discussion will start up again. For all the money that H-Wood has, you'd think they could afford to be a little bit more original.

That's just my thoughts on the matter................

Star Wars, just to see the fans squirm lol

EDIT: Actually, I take that back, being a Star Wars fan myself and knowning Lucas he'd prolly do it as another chance to screw us all over (i.e. Prequals, not releasing original SW DVDs, and then when he did release the original SW DVDs it wasn't what we wanted either!!!) Lucas blows.

Cape Fear was good. Although that is the exception rather than the rule.
Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula is excellent -but there are so many Dracula movies can it truly be considered a remake?

None. I want Hollywood to start making good, original films again, something they haven't excelled at since the 1970's.

And whoever said Smokey and the Bandit... come on! Without Burt, that movie is nothing.

I'd like to see some great new original movies made, then remade in 20 years.

Oh, I think there was potential there. The way it was done originall, sure, Burt was it. But like all movies, there's always the kernel of a good story in it somewhere, or the studio wouldn't have picked it up. Now, whether the cast and director choose to go with that story or not is entirely up in the air. Obviously, with Smokey, they chose to go with Burt instead of the story. Good enough for the time. But I have a feeling there could be more there if it were done properly.

Not that I have any faith in that happening these days. They'd probably just make lots more car chases and have exploding trucks in every scene.
