When I plan on buying a new figure, it's not always so much because of who the figure is, but more so how it looks. For example, I'm not some sort of Optimus Prime freak, but the Classics Voyager Prime figure is obviously amazing, and therefore I purchased it, not because it's Prime, but it looked cool. How about you all?

Well, if the figure looks crazy good, I don't care if it's called "Shitpiece", I'll get it.

But I admit that certain characters add charm to a figure by name alone.

Character comes first for me, but if a figure just looks too bad even who that character is can't always get me to buy.

Both need to work for me. You can call Galvatron a Deluxe-sized tank all you want, I ain't buying it.

    Depends for me.

If its a Beast Era tribute, I'll get is becuase of the character. Like Universe Dinobot, did not have his colors at all. But when 99% of tribute figures are G1, I dont care if it was pink and had purple spots. I'll get it because it was Dinobot.

A character like Skystalker, Hailstorm, ect I'll get because of the look. Like Hailstorm, I mainly got him because his robot mode screams Vehicon to me.

I'd say character first, but the look also matter. I can make some exception when the toys look interesting like Generation Darkmount, I had no idea who he was but all the pics and comments made him look great and I picked it up, and he is indeed great :)

Character. I only buy toys of characters I like, and then only if the toys are good (aesthetically pleasing and well-engineered).

Both actually, I have to like the character and also how the figure looks.

Even if it's a Bee yet I find it hideous, I won't get it. Although some figures are so hideous that they fascinate me, like Gravity Bots, hehe.

No matter how nice a figure looks I won't get it if it isn't one of the characters that I like.

I'd have to say Looks. I love Galvatron, but I won't give his Universe toy a pass because it looks awful. He's not the only one that applies to, but he's the most obvious example.

Looks. I buy things on a whim 90% of the time anyway when I'm walking down the toy isle. Character may come into play, but I'll buy characters I hate if I love the toy's design.

Really depends. Shitty characters have gotten great toys, and great characters have gotten shitty toys.

Character, or rather, the original character.
If it's a redeco I'll just pretend is what I mean.

I definitely go for looks. I don't care if it's called Optimus Prime, if it looks butt-ugly, I'm not going to get it.

I think looks are pretty important.

Do you think Soundwave or Optimus would be as iconic today if they looked like BM Nightscream?

To me the toy is more important than the character. If I don't like the way it looks or I have some other problem with it, I'm not gonna buy it, no matter how much I may like a character. Likewise, if I don't like a character, but the toy looks awesome I'll buy it.

Little of both. But I voted looks since a bad looking toy is still a bad looking toy regardless of the character it represents
