In light of me getting my new Dell Studio 16 XPS i7, I was wondering what laptops other members use. So, discuss!
Asus UL80-VT I wanted to get a small and lightweight laptop that I could carry with me easily but still be able to play most games on the go if I was away from home for an extended period. So far this laptop has fit the bill perfectly. It small and light enough that I can carry it around in any backpack or bag and it just feels like I'm carrying a few magazines. The best feature is the nVidia graphics chip that you can switch on and off as needed. Turning it off switches to the onboard Intel graphics and saves battery power for when you're surfing the web or word processing. Turning it on gives it the power to play any game I've loaded it with. Granted, it's not going to run at maximum settings, but so far all the games I've tried look and run great.
Mac Book Pro 13 inch with 8gb ram and a solid state drive, the battery life rules I used it every day at comic con and only had to recharge it at night when I got back to the hotel.
Just a little netbook I got for school. It's an Asus 1000HE. Got my own custom built frankensteined together desktop that I use for most stuff.
Well I have an HP pavillion entertainment PC with Windows Vista, but soon it will change to either XP or the full version of Windows 7
A Macbook Pro recently out-of-warranty with a failing GPU. Absolutely not happy about it as the hard drive, battery (my third from Apple with this laptop), the Super Drive, and now the GPU have all failed (or are in the process). Definitely a bigger fan of Apple prior to their iPhone as they seemed to make better hardware and weren't focused as much on providing revenue streams for content. (I would think differently if I happened to own stock, I'm sure.) I'm uncertain whether I will buy a new model from Apple or spend the same money on a nice Windows 7 machine, a Kindle, and a new logic board to repair this computer myself.
Just curious, what video card do you have in your MBP? If you have the 8600 they should replace it for free. Apparently Nvidia admitted that the 8600 series laptop cards had some serious issues which caused them to die faster. About a month or so ago my MBP video card bit the dust. I took it in to the Apple store, and because it was this specific problem, my laptop which was well out of warranty was fixed for free. They even threw in a free battery for me too.
Toshiba Satellite® L455-S5009 Laptops Picked it up last March and for a sweet deal. So far, a lot better than my last laptop(due to Vista).
14" Asus F81s. Bought it because it had similar specs to the Dell Studio 15, but at a smaller size. Not the best laptop: overheats easily, has sound problems, and speakers are tiny soft. Runs (old) games fine, although might burn your hand as chassis becomes an iron when intensively gaming. Could use a new one.
