I open them in the shop, sometimes before I've even paid for them! And then sometimes I get an excellent cardio workout as I run from store police! And then one time I got a free overnight stay in a hotel! It wasn't very good though, there wasn't a separate toilet and I had to share the room with a big chap named Bubba.

I tear into them like a starving tasmanian devil. I shred the packaging. I gut it like a fish. 'Member that seen in Predator when the predator slaps Sunny's dead corpse against that log and then his rips his goddam spine out?!?! That's me with a new transformer!

What the hell is the point of buying lumps of plastic if I'm not even going to take them out of the damn box?!?!?!?!!!11?11!??one!

They're TRANSFORMERS, man. Like hell I'm not going to transform them!~!@#$@!~!!!

Yes I open them, they are product to be enjoyed. I do enjoy and keep the packaging as well. I get having a MISB/MOSC collection, but that isn't my passion. There's very high value in that type of collecting though, and I don't just mean dollar value. It creates extras for people like me and you to buy years later and open fresh. :)

I open everything as a rule, unless I've specifically bought a "spare" - used to do that with exclusives all the time, just in case my opener was a dud or got broken or whatever.

I have a few MIP outliers found on clearance: $13 WM MP Skywarp, $13 Armada Unicron, $4 Prime Sky Lynx, etc. Don't even really like the Sky Lynx, I just finally broke down and bought it 'cause hey, when are we ever gonna see a real Sky Lynx at retail, huh? Huh? Amiright?

    *three relatively short years later*

    ...oh.

Rip that shit open, if I wasn't going to actually experience the product then why bother buying it. It'd be like buying a video game and then never playing it.

You're missing out on at least half the toy if you don't open it. I understand misb collectors for other lines but not for transformers.

That said, I have an enormous backlog of transformers I own but haven't opened yet. I'm slowly getting to them.

Unless it's one you plan to sell or something, there's no reason not to open it. No point in buying otherwise, that toy could be going to someone else who'd appreciate it.

I usually buy three of everything. One for robot mode, alt mode, and one unopened in a properly sealed box/card.

Open them. I buy these figures so that they can be used in stop-motion or displayed.

Yes. I don't do the whole MIB/MoC thing.Takes up way too much room and I like to pose my toys for pictures.

    Pretty much my situation.

I used to buy at least 2 of everything, open one, trash the package and store the other one, then I found that have so many robots displayed, so many stored boxes and even duplicated figures that I never opened.

Right now, I try not to buy new figures and just keep me entertained with the figures I actually own, after all there are even boxes that I never opened.

It's too hard to transform them without opening them.

I open all of my figures. I don't tend to buy a huge amount of them in one go, so I usually have time to enjoy messing with them and checking to see if there's anything wrong with them that I'd need to return them for. (which always pains me to do when I have to, but the stores I've done it with have been pretty understanding, and A3U was really kind to exchange me the owner's MMC Azalea when mine had an assembly error)

I open everything I buy because I'd never buy something I wouldn't open.

Sole exception being an RTS Fallback that I have for some godforsaken reason.
