title. do you open all your figures? is there certain lines that you keep in packaging? post your opinions below.

 

I crack them open. What good is a toy if it isn't played with?

EDIT: Except for duplicates of characters I have no intention of army-building. Those I exchange or give away.

 

Open them, transform them, enjoy them.

I can see the appeal of keeping some lines misb, but that type of collecting is 100% not for me

 

If I dont open, that means its not worth keeping. Recently sold SixShot, Groove and Sky Lynx unopened because I didnt like what I saw after getting them.

 

Ouch. I have Skylynx, and while he could have been Leader or Titan size he isn't a bad figure by a long shot. Sixshot I've heard nothing but positives about, and which Groove? If the legends version then I don't blame you.

 

Transformers as a whole is a very different animal when it comes to collecting. Most toys just sit there possibly poseable in varying fashions. However, with Transformers you have transforming robots, usually with some level of complexity. No other toyline features this level of engineering.
This is something that simply cannot be experienced without taking it out of its packaging.

If you don't already know, STEPHEN SPEILBURG buys these toys for himself, and I'm fairly certain he takes his out of the boxes.

 

Open everything I buy, the unique thing about Transformers is, well they transform! Unlike other action figures they are by definition ment to be opened and enjoyed/experienced.

 

I collect CHUG, so i have 0 reason not to open them.

I always open them. If it's a higher-end figure or has some sweet packaging, then I'll keep the box in storage, or in a really rare occasion, I'll display the figure in package (only one: Prime First Edition voyager Optimus. That packaging is pretty sweet).

 

I open (almost) everything. I have a very few figures still MISB. Otherwise, all TFs are opened soon after purchase. They are transformers after all, they're meant to be transformed.

 

I open all my figures. Though I do see the value in collecting MISB, from an aesthetic POV. Especially G1 box art.   If I ever won the lottery, I'd probably go crazy buying MIB/MISB G1's.

 

I open all of them unless I'm getting extras to be autographed by their respective voice actors, those I keep sealed.

 

I've opened 99.9% of my figures, the lone exception being the mail away ROTF Ravage figure.

 

I used to buy so much stuff I couldn't keep up with opening it all and having a place to put them so I ended up having a huge collection of things I've never even seen since I got them and stored away in boxes. I still have it all in storage and slowly going through it when I can. I stopped collecting for a while because it was basically ridiculous.

I started collecting again a couple years ago after I got married and had kids. I didn't think I could but my wife looked at our finances and said if I wanted to get a few things for myself and actually open them and enjoy them, I should. So...I did and now I open everything I get except for some extras I get of key items. Right now it's getting ridiculous again because I have everything I've bought since starting back up displayed and that means our entire house has become a showcase for toys. It's almost time to give up the hobby or drastically cut back again.

 

Yes, unless it's a double given as a gift, then I usually put it in the closet for a while to see if my first copy breaks or if the figure accumulates in value to the point that I feel inclined to sell it.

 

Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg much prefers go-bots.

 

I open them. There are very, very few circumstances where I keep figures MISB, and I haven't done so with any Transformers thus far.

 

I open all of them immediatly. Well, I usually take some time to fully view the box, and definetly take time to appreciate the boxes of Takara figures. All of them are opened though.

 

Open and play with all of them. That's the reason I buy them.
