2009 has been an outstanding year for video games in my opinion and was wondering what do other users consider to be the best game this year?

I've added a poll of what I feel will be the most popular answers but of course if your choice isn't on the list just post it.

I'm going to go with Batman: Arkham Asylum for its fantastic and satisfying gameplay, tremendous voice acting and overall exciting gaming experience.

    What would you pick?

Street Fighter 4 single handedly revived an entire gaming genre.

It defied an entire industry that said competitive fighting games weren't viable anymore. Even if I wasn't a rabid fan, it would get my vote.

Dragon Age, but since it's not on the list, I'll pick Uncharted, because it delivered on almost everything, and I haven't laughed this much playing online since I saw Smasher almost get run over in Halo 3.

That would be my very close second. Very Close. Also, bro, you put Transformers in there but not inFamous.... for shame.

Uncharted 2 all the way, but I think that Killzone 2 should be there. Not a big FPS kind of guy, but the visuals sure were impressive.

While we can safely say that we love Transformers more than the casual fan, I think most will agree that ROTF hardly qualifies as GOTY material. It was certainely better than the first movie game, but overall, I'd consider it a 'good' game. Not great, not goty, but good.

I haven't played every single game released this year but I'd have to rank 'em Uncharted 2 at the top then a huge drop down to Batman and then another drop down to everything else.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Killzone, probably because it came out in Feb (and that tends to happen with games that come out so early in the year), but that kicked some serious ass.

I was about to say that... And from what I heard, playing it single player puts it above even NSMB on DS, so this one is definitely a contender, more than even Scribblenats.

It was almost a three-way tie between Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, and Modern Warfare 2. In the end, though, my addiction to COD took over and I nominate MW2.

We still have a few more titles coming out this year but I don't think anything will trump any of those.

I'm going to have to go with Batman: AA. It's a completelty original game not just a concept that was already proven successful. The gameplay was great and they definitely switched it up so it wasn't too repetative. I don't think I can find anything I don't like about that game.

No its fine, we'll do the more off the wall one at the appropriate time.

BTW Street Fighter IV is by far and away the best game of the year. Y'all are smoking asbestos to vote otherwise, rawr!

I would have to say it's a tie between Batman and Uncharted 2 for me.

It's gonna make me feel like a cop-out, because the game is so hyped up, but I think I'm gonna have to go with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game's single player campaign is an merciless action roller-coaster, the story maybe stretching things a bit (wont go into details why in fear of spoilers) but the way the story presents itself to you is very thrilling and the action (ie all the shooting, getting shot, killing, dying) is great.

Spec-ops is a friggen blast, Im just worried that once everybody gets all 69 stars no one will want to play it anymore.

Multiplayer has been refined nicely too. They way the perks are placed makes for a lot more diversity among players. Usually in CoD4, most people would just carry around something like an assault rifle, bandolier, stopping power, steady aim/martyrdom. The game's still new so that may chance later on once people start discovering what they like and you then get a popular setup that everyone uses. It's just for me, I feel that I can take advantage of most of the perks avilable in the game.

Just because its the only thing that makes the PS3 worthwhile doesn't make it the GOTY by default.

250+ hours of SFIV say otherwise.
