You know, the object of interest that plays a crutial role in the plot of a movie.

My top favorite is a tie between the Matrix of Leadership (fromTransformers) and The Red matter (from Star Trek).

    What about you guys?

Red Matter was a silly name I always thought. Can't wait for more in the new ST timeline, even though it makes me said because it means the Next Generation may not exist any more.

Actually far longer than that Pertwee was the one who first used it as a cure all. He once detonated a mine field with it as well as other famous scenes. It was being used as a cure all so much during Tom Baker's run they destroyed it in Davidson's run.

    The One Ring

One plot to rule them all. one plot device to find them, one plot device to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

GN Particles, from Gundam 00. Exaggerated as they are, they do have some basis in real-life physics, which lends them some credibility. With proper understanding of their nature, some of the ass-pulls and Deus Ex Machina scenarios seemingly invoked by them actually aren't all that ass-pull-y, and may in fact have been foreshadowed by previous events.

Their use over the course of the series grows within mostly credible bounds, and keeps things interesting without having to introduce more and more different plot devices.

    They're also damned pretty.

The Stargate, one of the best Plot Devices ever....due to it being able to transport people and equipment to distant planets, even further with a device known as a Zero Point Module which allows it to connect to other Galaxies....

And of course the FTL in Universe, since it allows travel over galaxies and universes in the matter of a few hours.....
