I always ignored these on ebay because I found the price prohibitive, but after taking a closer look at the 2008 set I'm thinking of collecting these anyway. I think some of the repaints are really fantastic.

How far back do Botcon exclusive sets go? Which figures are your favs?

the arly exclusive werent as grand as now. but all have been interesting pieces. my favorite sets were tigertron/arcee and the dawn of future past set. the classics set was great but shouldnt have been an exclusive. that was just mean of hasbro. decent and shattered glass are both really weak. with 1 maybe 2 standout pieces.

I've never purchased a BotCon set, but I'd have to go with the Games of Deception set, which I really regret passing on.

Of the 2 sets I have, that one is my favorite, by far. They really created a winner that year.

No set will ever top the one from 2006.

Don't own any, but my favourite is Dawn of Future's Past (2006) by far.

Favorite has to be Games of Deception and then a tie between Shattered Glass and the 2006 set. The 2005 set was nice but the other ones IMO are much better.

The only two I think are worth the horrific prices are the 2006 and 2007 sets. I was lucky enough to get the 2007 set last year, and I'd still like to get the 2006 one at some point.

The only botcon figure I have (two of!) is '05 Ricochet. I've always loved his cyberjet mold, and his deco is both interesting and highly articulate. He also fits in great with my handful of Henkeis/Classics/Universe 2.0s. And with the exception of R-Blade, he's the only Autobot cyberjet with blue light-piping, which I'm a bit of a stickler for. No yellow!

Other than him, I wouldn't mind an SG Prime, but it's not high on my list of priorities. The other botcon figures never really interested me, but that's probably because they've mostly been based on Beast Wars, RiD and A/E/C. Not my cup'o tea. And of all the Classics they've offered, I'm not much of a fan for the seekers, Jetfire, Bumblebee or Rodimus.

2006, no question. Practically every mold use in that entire set was inspired, and it still blows me away how they made such an accurate pre-BW Waspinator WITH NO REMOLDS. Seriously, who the heck saw THAT coming?

I also think the "cat faces" on pre-BW Cheetor and Tigatron's robot chests-- again, with NO REMOLDING-- was also an utter stroke of genius.
