I really enjoyed them. They have some great accessories, lots of character, and their robot mode posability is really good.
This. Seems like almost all the reactions I've seen were positive, but less absurdly gushing compared to some of their other offerings.
It's just hard to justify spending $150+ on these guys. I might do it eventually but there are better deals that I can get first.
They seem okay, but for that kind of money I'm looking for more of a great figure not just an okay figure. Plus they seem like they were re-imagined just a little too much to fit in with the Classic collection and that's the whole reason I'd be looking for 3rd party Insections because Hasbro seems so unwilling to make those characters anymore.
I think part of the reason people may be underwhelmed with these guys is because of FP's past. City Commander - trailer that part forms Protector - same as CC Warbot Defender - Triple Changer XF 1 - parts to turn a crap combiner into a cool Superion XF 2 - parts AND 2 FIGURES that turn crap combiner into super awesome Bruticus FP Insecticons - they transform. This is the first FP item that "just transforms" nothing special like the rest of FP's stuff. Personally I love them and think they fit well into the Classics universe. FP never showed them with the "right" G1 silhouettes but they did make it possible for every figure to achieve said silhouette, and I don;t think that was a coincidence.
My solution was to pick up two of the G1 versions for super cheap. Still need Shrapnel, but when facing 8 bucks for two G1 figures vs $150 for articulation, hand me the bricks!
I'm using the original G1 Insecticons in my classics shelf, but I would buy the FP versions if they were repainted into deluxe insecticons Barrage, Ransack and Chop Shop.
While I have yet to open mine, I did have the opportunity to mess around with the two that Lupis Convoy has and they are amazing figures. That's why I jumped on them before Christmas time when toy arena had free shipping on orders over $75 and ordered all three. Before the discount code it was going to be roughly $17 for shipping. For $50 each I think they are worth it.
what? They're anything but simplistic, might want to try transforming them again, I love them, nice and complex, decent bot and bug modes.
Really? I was under the impression that most fans loved them. Personally, I'm not interested in them because they're very pinheaded in robot mode (the head designs are not to my taste either) and the ninja interpretation is just too strange to me.
I know this is probably against what most like, but I kind of wish they were available in a legend size or scout. I think I'd be more into them.
I think they look fantastic. I'm kind of tempted to get them and am envious of those who have them. I doubt I'll actually buy them because I'm not a huge Insecticon fan but they are darn good looking figures.
Well... the Ninsecticons don't *just* transform. The multipurpose build-a-weapon aspect is pretty awesome and fairly clever from a toy perspective, but gets overlooked due to not being part of the G1 toys or characters.
