Well it's definitely not a Hasbro/Takara Transformer KO.

I doubt it's even a KO. In my opinion the seller is dubbing it a TF because it says Transformer on the box. In japan transforming robot toys are quite common, and I would have to guess this is likely some 80s diecast transforming toy robot and nothing more.

it would be like selling a Varitech Fighter as a TF. not entirely wrong but not right either.

Well, I was 99+% sure it wasn't a Transformer (feels more like a Takatoku, late-70s/early 80s thing), but I was hoping with some of the fans of Japanese mecha/historians on here, someone would know what this is.
The box looks like a Taiwanese knock-off from years ago...but that doesn't really help.

Couldn't tell you if it's a KO or not, but it's Brave Gokin 11 - Sankan-Oh. Not a Transformer, it's from a different series entirely.

Well, telling me it's from the Brave series does help. Which Brave series?

It doesn't feel like Brave, though. It feels more like 70s, possibly 80s.

Maybe Kusanagi didn't give you a full bio, but googling the name he suggested should help you find more things & eventually narrow it down. For example, I found this by doing just that.

    ChachiPower: Tankbot- Sankan Oh bootleg

Brave Gokin, ironically, is not the Brave series. Brave Gokin is a series by CMs Corporation, it started out doing Braves (the three Gaogaigars, Raijin-Oh and later Great Baan Gaan) but they branched out into other, non-Brave robot shows. Such as the 80s show Braiger and Patlabor.
