    Hey All,

After the big deal with TFSource, I was just wondering what the big deal is with Shadow Sycther. I mean I see this guy going for $350 on EBay, going for $1,100 with Wild Rider. I mean really?

It looks ok. Nothing special. So, what am I missing. The only reason I would get one of these is to trade in the future for something I really wanted, so why are so many scratching and clawing just to get one? Unless they plan to scalp em cause they are so "rare".

A very limited repaint of a popular FansProject toy?

It's probably just that demand exceeds supply, as usual...

I don't know - black repaints always seem to be the most wanted?

I for one have no interest in it, thankfully. I don't really get it either.

Beats me. I only collect the CHUG line and the main movie figures, so I couldn't tell you. But then again, I've never fully understood the Botcon Exclusive stuff either, there's seldom been anything (outside of the Seekers that infamous year) that I really thought was cool or wanted desperately. Maybe just because it's rare and one of those "Holy Grails" like a Fortress Max or something?

I was looking around trying to figure out the same thing. I'm just glad I'm not interested in him, cause that would be another expensive figure I don't need to add to my list!

    Opinion.

    Subjective value.

    Possibly.

I could see the repaint thing. But you cannot even get a Wildrider. Is there even a wildrider ko to match this. Also, if your going the KO route, why not just get a KO of this when it comes out. I am sure you can have both for less then $150 in KO when they are out.

As for the look, ok he looks pretty bad ass, but not $1,100 complete badass.

Some of the custom Combiners on Ebay now look 100x better and you get 2 of those for the price of one of these.

Not too much Supply + a good bit of demand, + addon for an already expensive figure + Fansproject + a black repaint + a sycth weapon = rabid butthurt fanbase.

Lots of people are apparently into Shattered glass for whatever reason, so they're going to like the idea of a Shattered Glass Rodimus stand in.

It's an awesome mold, and it looks very striking IMO. However, I wouldn't pay those kinds of prices for one... I might get a second protector and custom or commission paint something for a similiar effect.

Well... I can't speak for other people, but I actually already own Wildrider and SG Rodimus (paid retail, essentially, for both). And I was lucky enough to catch Shadow Scythe at "retail" price too. So, over-all, it really wasn't THAT expensive.

I think a lot of people are probably just mad they missed it when they went up. Then they see other people have it, and they go a bit nuts and are willing to spend more than they should...

Just a limited figure that a lot of people missed out on(certainly not mac&cheese) but the fact that they didnt last too long when the preorder was up. My only complaint was that he paint apps werent really directed at SG roddy. Limited run toys will always be coveted. I am glad I picked him up for cost because I certainly wouldnt buy it for the aftermarket prices, he aint that nice.

You my friend really make sense. I mean, that is the only reasonable thing.

You can commision the repaint for like $50. Commision someone to build the scyth, and get the correct coloring on the guy as well. All for less then $300!

I get it. IMHO, beyond the limited supplies, It's simply the most badass bot in my 1000+ collection.

Wow! Really! That is really something coming from you. Who is #2?

For me, it is still FP Bruticus. Cannot beat that yet.

FP Bruticus would have to come in second place.
Again, this is my humble opinion.

Maybe he is also a figure like Unicron. I kept going back and forth on purchasing him. So I ended up getting a Armada one painted G1 colors. Now that I see him in person, he is awesome. Maybe thats the same thing with Shadow Scyther. Maybe he is unbeatable in person.

BTW, if anyone wants to buy a G1 colored Unicron for $75, let me know. I am looking to buy the Takara 2010 one now.

BTW, FP Bruticus is #1, Unicron is #2 in my book.

Some people already said this but to summarize:

    Supply and Demand
---Low Supply - Reason: Limited release to 600 piece, some of which stores kept for themselves.
---High demand - Reason: Fansproject release, hype, painted black, extra Scythe, fandom craze.

If we talk face value on quality, review, its a pretty good toy. Its well engineered, but its not worth what the price is hiked to. Why is it hiked? Because Fansproject's brand hype exceeds their quality. I am not saying they made something crappy. They made something very excellent, I am a fan of them. However, their name is incredibly powerful within this fandom.

Hell, you can get an original 1986 G1 Wildrider MOC cheaper then a Henkei Wildrider. About 50% cheaper lol.

    Ridiculous.
