What Is The Best Transformers Convention For Buying G1?

I have been to general toy/collectible conventions before, but 2012 was my first Botcon, or specific Transformer convention.

Is Botcon the best, or are there others with a better G1 turn out?

Yeah, for US buying I think Botcon would be the surefire bet. At least there you know that every dealer is going to have Transformer stuff, so the chances for G1 are really high. Other conventions might only have a few G1 dealers if any.

Botcon prices (at least I felt) were a bit on the high side for the most part, at least from the professional dealers. The people just clearing out collections were a bit better I think.

Depending on what you're looking for G1 stuff can be hard to find at Botcon as well.

It depends on what you're looking for, but nearly every year I've gone to TFcon there has been someone selling literally every G1 figure ever released in the US, simultaneously.

So I guess it also boils down to where you are. No sense in going to Botcon if Auto Assembly is in your backyard and you just need a few G1 figures, after all.

Location, locatin, location. There are none that I know of in Australia, so it's all ebay. You'll also strike good deals more often than not on ebay, contrary to what popular belief is.

    Ebay:
I get almost all of my TFs from DragonCon.
Prices are negotiated by rolling a D20 against the vendor's stats.
if i get a critical hit, i gouge the dealer on price.

    :throw

    Seriously, BotCon.

From what I've seen and heard, prices on G1 at conventions are absurd. Ebay or message boards are probably the cheapest options.

Sounds like you guys get a bunch of scalpers for vendors.

    That doesn't happen at CybCon.;)

Goodluck not paying $ for G1 figures. If I was starting now I would go after the reissues and cheaper items first. Even the reissues, mainly Takara and EHobby, are going up! Just wait till the next movie comes out and the prices will spike again. As far as collecting G1 Japanese figures, I hope you have plenty of income lol.
