    I just took it as Starscream spitting for some reason. Sam may have said something that pissed him off and prompted the reaction.

    Looking at the pick again Sam's posture suggests that he had just chucked something at Starscream, maybe like a gas container or something, and Starscream just chomped it in a Gallagher fashion.
