Bot mode is more important too me. I can deal with a so-so alternate mode but a crappy bot mode is a eal breaker.

bot mode. If a figure comes packaged in bot mode, I'll probably never transform it. There re some in my collection that have never been transformed.

All my TFs get transformed into robot mode straight out of the package and never transformed back. If it is packaged in robot mode it never gets transformed. The only exception is the Wreck-Gar that Wreck-Gar rides. I would be perfectly happy(and probably prefer for accuracy's sake) if they made TF figs that were well articulated cartoon/comic accurate robot modes that didn't even transform. I like robots.

They are of equal importance to me.

Transformers that don't have a decent altmode are disappointments. I basically avoided Transformers from Beast Wars through most of the Unicron trilogy because I didn't like the altmodes. When they started doing Alternators and Classics it suddenly became a lot more interesting.

100% Bot mode, although I feel like part of what makes the aesthetic so great is the fact that they are built to transform.

I will agree with Bumblethumper. Both are important. If either one is bad, it feels like a bad toy no matter how awesome the other mode is. MP Prime for example. I love his robot mode, but the truck mode is severely lacking. As such, I always feel like he's not quite a masterpiece and keep hoping they'll take another crack at that guy.

I really don't care, come to think of it. I like a toy if the transformation is fun, and if one mode looks bad, there's a good chance that the other mode looks a lot better.

Both modes are important, though I think alt mode wins out by a tiny bit. I love transforming my toys, and it's really disappointing if they don't really transform into anything decent looking.

I also fancy the concept of bots being physically affected by their alt mode as opposed to simple 'wearing' it, and taking shortcuts on the bot mode for a better alt mode leads to interesting results. For example, the movie Constructicons. Many of them have really distorted bot modes, seemingly the cost of cramming in a realistic vehicle form AND a part of Devastator.

I am one of the few that actually ventures to say alt mode as when looking at figures, (to me) they generally just look like adorned robots and it's the alt mode that usually is the reason why I buy them. I'm sure part of the reason why I love alt modes more than the bot modes is the transformation itself, but still. I love me them alt modes.

    Poll is flawed.

I think both modes can be important.

Since my collection is mostly in there robot modes, my choice is obvious   , but if the transformation is crappy (ex: lay down to transform), and the alt mode looks like shit, no dice.

Definitely bot, but alt is certainly taken into strong consideration. Bot mode can make or break a decision for me while alt rarely does. Most of my figures are displayed in bot mode most of the time.

I would like to vote "Both" since a TF Bot & his alternate mode is just as important to me but if I ever have to choose one category, it will be Bot mode. (Since I display my pieces in Bot mode most of the time.)

Alt-mode. If the Alt-mode looks like crap, then what is the point of it being a transformer? I'm looking at you Universe Ironhide.
The whole thing that attracts me to the toys is the engineering. If the engineering can't pull off a good alt-mode, then it's a failure as a transformer.

The Bot-mode has to be really bad or, in my personal case, bland looking, to turn me off of a figure.

Since they're robots in disguise, the disguise better be convincing. And since they're robots in disguise, the robot should be awesome.

    Both.
