Hi, I am currently looking for a good substitute for classics galvatron. I know that I want a version of the voyager energon mold, but my question is which one.

There are three that I am looking at, the American TRU exclusive Megatron, the Takara Galvatron, and the Takara General Galvatron. If price was not an issue, which would you choose when taking into account being both a good homage, but not looking garish?

 

I'd go with the larger Takara Galvatron, myself. Right colors, imposing size (the other one is a bit smaller), and decent articulation.

 

Personally, I don't use any of those 3, I use the American Galvatron. Yeah, he's huge, but his colors are better (and he costs less/is easier to find) than the General Galvatron. I understand why you want a voyager, but I don't really think the voyagers have a good option.

 

I actually do have the bigger American Megatron, but the size is what throws me off. I really want him to be posed in between the classics versions of Cyclonus and Scourge, and a voyager version would fit just right.

Does everyone think that a bigger Galvatron is better?

 

Personally I'd go with either the hasbro energon galvatron or super-link voyager galvatron. if i had to choose between the 2. i'd chose superlink galvatron.

 

SL Galvatron was an ultra not a voyager wasn't he? Anyway if I had the money the SL General Galvatron would be what I'd go with.

 

The size classes were different back then, but I know that there is the bigger "Leader" class version that was more popular in the states, and the smaller one that I figured was around a "voyager" size that only has one release in America. However, even if the smaller version was an Ultra size, that is still better then a giant leader that dwarfs everbody else on the shelf.

To anybody that says the General Galvatron, do you actually have it? I read that it looks garish, but is it a better shade of purple in person?

 

Good topic, I'm interested in finding Superlink Galvatron General now BUT... the only one on ebay is going for 100 bucks before shipping. How much should this figure cost?

 

That's the one I want, but it's too expensive for me.
I use the Voyager mold from the TRU 2-pack. I have the Leader verson, and he looks good, but IMO he's just too big.

 

Same here. I prefer the smaller size and color scheme closer to the G1 toy than G1cartoon color scheme. c

 

I bought him a few years ago, first (and last) time I used Rinkya. Turned out very, very expensive, but pretty much worth it ever since.

 

I didn't even think to look at siebertron.com; didn't think that they would have it.

Anyway, he really does look nice, and at a voyager-Ultra scale, he would be perfect. Now I just need to find it at a better price, but I know that I will just break down and pay a lot for it in the end.

That picture with Megs almost sold me on it, but as others have pointed out it is really expensive, and at least the American version is toy accurate. It all comes down to the price if the General is only a little bit more expensive, then I'll spring for that, otherwise it is the TRU version.

wow, that pic makes Galvatron General look like the perfect update for Henkei Megatron, what with the wings and all.

 

hmm.. maybe while HQ KOs are a hot button issue... KO of Voyager Galvatron with better colors?

 

I like the size of the smaller one, but the only purple one just doesn't look right. The only one that got the colors right was the Energon Galvatron Leader sized.

 

The Superlink Galvatron is better than the classic one..

 

A quality KO would be nice.

 

Someone get the guys who did Henkei KOs on voyager Galvatron.
