    question

toy wise I always figured trytpcion was modelled in some sense after Godzilla/mechagodzilla 1(the original one from Godzilla vs mechagodzilla/terror of mechagodzilla

but what if anything actually influenced trypticons appearance design wise (besides Godzilla)?

in terms of sheer awe inspiring scale trypticon be large enough to crush a combiner in one hand effortlessly and could swallow said combiner in a single mouthful if that even.

Trypticon was probably inspired by a Dragon or also by Godzilla.

First off they had to think of what would rival someone like Metroplex. And since Metroplex was humanoid, they had to base something off of something a human would face.

Trypticon is a giant T-rex that turns into a city and a space jet.

And along that, Trypticon is kinda inspired by Godzilla because Giant guns on him and all that.

But honestly, it's a bit of a headscratcher. Unless you talk to a Hastakatomy producer.

I be thinking the deathsaurer may have been a sublte influence on the matter from a design point anyways

it came out in 1983 beating out trypticon by at least 3 years anyways and they do look somewhat slightl,y similer for the head gun placement

Trypticon was almost certainly in the Scramble City planning/design phase of Takara's Diaclone when it was pulled in favor of pushing resources towards Transformers instead. I'd say everything points back toward kaiju movies, specifically Godzilla, for root inspiration.

Did anyone else think this was going to be about what makes Trypticon get out of bed in the morning?

from death saurer to trypticon and back again

looks like a mix of geno saurer geno breaker and berserk fury amalgamated together

could totally see that look work for trypticon if he were given a more natural animal like gait and bodybuild for his titan scale beast mode (you know , actually make him look like a Godzilla type dinosaur not a entire city forecully molded into being an approximation of one )

yeah but they both look somewhat similer through the head shape and head moutned weaponry bit Godzilla wise(imho the ultimate deathsaurer could easily give trypticon a run for its money)

I don't see how he's inspired by a dragon and Godzilla, he looks to be more a T-Rex than anything.
