Sousei no Aquarion, Aquarion - Forced Attack Mode. I think that's the DX Chogokin figure- pretty expensive, lots of die-cast.

    Here's the link on BBTS

Somehow I had a feeling this was about Aquarion. It's a shame BBTS's sale doesn't apply to either version. Then again it's just as well as I'd be pretty tempted to order one, and I so can't afford that right now. Sweet piece though, hopefully one of these days...

Remember a thread where someone posted a pic of that Aquarion fully posed on a comic shop display and just
made all the other toys arounds it look dull.

Sorda lika a Macross/Evangelion Mech version of that large stinky Spawn combiner that was out a few yrs back.

not much diecast. The toy is already really heavy and diecast would be overkill. I have the original deco and think its great.

The set is made up of three ships that can merge together in three different ways to create three distinct mech modes. This newer version also has directions for a crab mode. My site carries the new one and I have been so tempted to buy one, but having already spent $200+ on the first one it is a little hard to pony up another $200 for a retool.

The only negative to the design of this toy is that it pretty much requires a stand to be displayed. It has a ton of moving parts and is top heavy.

There was a link on another site (sorry forget which) that had some cool fan modes as well.

Heh. Guys, especially Redline, not sure if any of you knew this, but Aquarion was the latest anime that Shoji Kawamori worked on. YES the hory froating head of macross fame was the mecha designer of Aquarion. Being that its jets and robots, I was not surprised. The anime is good. Soundtrack is stellar.

The black aquarion is the mass produced version used by the military. The normal color is the one used by the main characters. The mass produced has the crab mode and different weaponry(mostly gun armnaments, while the regular has melee like swords and bow and arrows).

Kawamori also designed THS-02 G1 Convoy and is also involved with the design of Masterpiece Starscream (which makes alot of sense with his Macross background)

I first saw these badass things in the thread from the other day that was mentioned by NotoriousBIC and I set out to learn more. So far the best price I found is $185 + $15 S&H on good, old e-bay. Now, if I only had the money...
