While you are watching G1 Transformers as kids, a strange commercial suddenly comes on and informs you that there will be a Transformers cartoon just like it many, many years later - A.D. 2008, to be exact.

It tells you that you WILL love it as an adult and it shows your favorite Transformers in action from TFA.

Would you GAPE at the startlingly stylish artstyle, the exaggerated chins, and the complete awesomeness of it all that you just CAN'T wait until 2008 comes along?

What do you think and what would be your reaction as a kid?:D

First thing I'd feel would be astonishment at the radical art style - as far as I'm aware, nothing like it existed back in the Eighties. Then, curiosity would kick in, along with a long and soul-destroying waiting game. Think of it as being like the waiting game for The Dark Knight, only worse.

As a kid back in the 80's? I would think it was all make believe since, back then, the concept of the year 2008 would be too much to comprehend (remember, we all thought we'd be driving flying cars or using rocket packs to get to work by the year 2000). I might have gotten excited, but my parents would think I was on sci-fi overload for talking about anything post-2000. They would then immediately cut me off from watching more TV & cartoons that were clearly warping my mind, probably make me join a sports team, and alter my course of life forever, subsequently making me forget about Transformers entirely.

    Haha :)

I'd probably would have freaked out. Then report the news to my parents whose reaction would have been, " Michael Steven McDonald, you better not still be playing with Transformers when you're 29!" Then my dad would add, "You faggit"
Well at least I'm not gay Dad lol.

After my mind was completely blown, I'd likely have tried real hard to draw like that awesome thing I'd just seen on the T.V. had shown me, and had my friends think I was nuts for my description of what I'd just seen. Especially if I was assured by said time-traveling commercial that there would, in fact, still be Dinobots, especially my three favorite ones.

Seems a safe bet, anyway. Hell, I liked Season Three for doing something different when I was a kid, stands to reason I'd like something really different.

I really don't think that I would have liked it. The original G1 'Formers looked somewhat natural and organic in their proportions and faces, etc. The new ones look like something out of a fever dream. Apart from Transformers, I also liked Japanese animated shows like Speed Racer, Voltron and Robotech, but I think the new Transformers style would have been way too extreme and exaggerated.

After the time travel thing blows my mind I'd be happy to know TFs was still being made so I could share it with my own kids but I would wonder where Rodimus and Galvatron were and why we're back to plain on Op and Megs again. Every since '86 I'd been looking forward in some way to 2005. 2008 is only 3 years later surely the 2005 guys woud be better to spotlight. And why wait 50 years after 2008 for us to have robots doing stuff for us. Why won't we have our own robots by 2008? Why aren't the voice actors the same? And why is Prowl now a motorcycle and not a police car? But I'd be glad he and Ratchet were still alive.

I would compare it to the art and voices in G1 and complain. I would also say they didn't look like real vechicles. Based on your description I'd only see a commercial, not the show, so I'd base it off the show I'd seen and consider it inferior.
