What if we lived in a World where "Toys" were accepted for all ages and not considered childish.

I imagine there would be a higher demand for such products and quality would be on par with Japanese products.

Not sure I agree, adult fans still get lots of figures that are not for children.

There's your typical 10 USD Deluxe with mechtech weapon for a kid.
There's your typical 60-200 USD Masterpiece for a collector.

There's your typical 10-15 USD Batman with grapple hook, karate kick and whatnot.
There's your typical 230 USD Hot Toys Keaton Batman that makes baby jesus cry for new and old alike.

I'd like living in a world where being a teenager/grown man can like and collect My Little Pony without having a little sister or daughter.

I'd just like to get whatever toy I want and not be judged. (I'm primarirally referring to Ponies and Shinkis)

Also I belive this topic should go in either Non-Transformers General discussion or the Toyark forum.

Well, it's still not completely socially accepted. You can tell someone you collect Transformers and they think it's cool, but won't do it themselves, due to what other people might think of them or don't find buying toys worth it finacially.
Then their are the people who think you're imature or childish.
Starting in middle school in this country, toys are considered "gay". Then in high school, people still have a fond place for them, but won't admit it. In college, no ones gonna judge you, besides the assholes.

While I get what you mean, the same can be applied to myriads other hobbies\consumer goods as well. The same can be said about video games, alcohol, drugs, porn, mail stamps, china, furniture and so on.

Since we're talking about adults though, don't the majority of people stand in the "college" and after college category of yours?

That world is called Japan. But it's not all peaches and cherry blossoms over there either.

To date, the US is still one of the top 3 countries in the world to live in. Is so great living here that you have people who struggle to put food on their table and gas in their cars at the same time have a sense of self-entitlement to toys for retail price.

    And go. . .

The only beef I get from people concerning my toy is my familial units, but that's family bullshit for ya.

I never have issue from other people, usually they know I'm a kickass person to be around that drinks beer and carries women like a motherfucker. If I were some reclusive nerd though, then the story may be different, but deviancy has its benefits.

Even if they weren't considered childish, I imagine the adult collector's segment of the market would still be dwarfed by kids and not a whole lot would change. A lot of collectors get out of collecting for a variety of reasons, and even if everyone felt the same way about the franchise as us adult collectors (which they almost certainly wouldn't), it doesn't necessarily mean more people would have owning figures as a priority with their money.

Higher demand would maybe just mean more different kinds of figures, or more figures produced. The Japanese market is the way it is because you have a relatively SMALL segment of the population, who, through the way their purchasing culture has developed, are willing to pay more for higher-quality and collector-focused items. Without an increased range of acceptable prices to coincide with increased demands, I doubt it would change the product stream to be more like Japan's (and then on top of that there's different safety regulations that would need to be addressed).

In america you got cars and sports..they're the same as transformers and Joes. Toys.

Looking at displays some folks have I am reminded of my grandma's nick knack shelves. Gaudy as heck but I didn't care. It's how you perceive things. I've never been bugged about my tfs except for once, by my cousin when I was 15.

In Japan there's a a stigma about being an "otaku," and the stuff that caters to them. It sounds pretty great...having companies like Bandai and Takara Tomy catering to your needs, but remember that the people in the collector groups tend to be ostracized quite a bit by the rest of society. I just want to put into perspective the state of being for collectors in Japan. It isn't as rosey and fun, and society will try to change you and bend you away from what you like. We got it real good here, as we can really separate from the childish stigma as in that society won't force you to be something they'd like you to.

I wouldn't care one way or another, and also don't think the quality would go up much. They already sell a high enough volume where they are pretty efficient with their processes. Sure we would probably get a few more high-end offerings, but it wouldn't affect the main lines much.

As far as other replies with the social acceptance of it, I could really care less. Yes, it is not a socially accepted hobby, and will be shun, I don't really care, TFs dont define me, and my friends know that. They may give me hell, but I am sure they accept worse "flaws" I have. They know I collect, know I will talk about it (occasionally), but they will let me send stuff to their houses if I need to, pick me up groupons, purchase me stuff in China and Canada, hell, one friend is flowjetting autobot/d-con symbols for me at their work. Do they give me hell, damn right they do. Do I accept that they will, yup, cause it is a weird hobby to have, but in the end, they don't treat me any differently. Im sure I pitch them enough hell as well.

Just troll them about how much hair you've got and how much less they have. Works for me.
