I know it's not MMC or Dinobots, but I think that FansProject has a Snapdragon and Apeface planned sometime soon if you REALLy want an updated dinosaur robot.
I can definitely get behind your first suggestion. I'm curious though as to why you don't think they'd bother with them? Only one third party company is even bothering with the FoC versions and yet MMC is doing a combiner that 3 other companies are doing. Overlord/Carnifex and Seraph/ Nova Prime are also being done by others. I seem to recall someone close to MMC post that with respect to combined teams they would only ever touch upon the beast versions. While Dinobots aren't a gestalt team they're still a beast team so I guess that's where my logic has been placed. I hate SkyLynx for some odd reason. I didn't like his space Shuttle with unnecessary kibble underneath it look, probably. What does his Cybertron form look like? Maybe that will entice me more. Now Trypticon on the other hand...no opposition on my end. Although I do have hope for a FoC version of him from Planet X to go with Genesis.
It is just the way a few threads have gone. "Why can't MMC make everything?" kind of deal. They are certainly the new darlings of 3P fans, and with good reason.
With the movie-verse coming up I can't help but feel the reformatted Dinos will be well represented. Grimlock, Slag, and Swoop are confirmed in the film and most likely all five will be there. So any non-G1 itch will be scratched in 2014. I can't imagine these not being Voyager or larger. Planet X Swoop is stupidly small. Great design but restricted size = Missed opportunity. I'd rather just grab whatever movie-verse is going to put out next year to scratch the Dinobot itch. For anyone that wants to get into G1/FOC style Dinobots at MP size - I say go for it. I can't help but think the movie-verse is going to prompt Takara to do another MP Dinobot(either Swoop or Slag) though. The gap in large Dinobot releases has been there for a while though so I don't know what 3rd Parties are thinking.
I have one product (Hex)... it's not bad... certainly have some aesthetic issues with it, but I love Sixshot and it's a great update. I know they did the HOS stuff... but that wasn't too popular... and I heard a lot of complaints about the delicate nature of them. I really think it's the fan interaction that's causing all the praise... is it not?
A lot of folks were a lot more impressed with Hexatron than you. I think folks also really liked the HOS Seekers, and obviously Bovis is getting a ton of praise right now. Fan interaction is part of it, but so's reaction to the quality. YMMV.
I would love any company to produce the rest of the dinobots in mp scale. It doesn't have to be mmc, as long as it was done correctly. I think fans toys or mmc would have the best aesthetic /feel, though. Also not a fan of Dinobot Combiners... I think you lose a lot of what makes them awesome with that. The dinobots don't need to combine to kick butt
I've given numerous reasons for why this thread was created, but rather than have you comb through them again, it has to do with the Feral Rex thread and people enjoying the quality of Bovis and discussing Slag retools. An MMC insider/supporter, not sure which, once posted that if MMC ever made another combiner team that it would likely be a beast team (ie- Terrorcons or Piranhacons)...so even though they (dinobots) don't combine (or at least I wouldn't want them to) why should they be excluded if tha statement holds true? And I personally want them to combat the MMC feralcons!!
Since they’ve announced there grimlock I feel it’d be a good idea to release the rest of the crew. Slash would also be great to have.
