What makes you think that all kids who recieve toys from TFT are homeless? That's not nearly accurate. Regardless, who says they wouldn't enjoy a TF? Apparently you're too privleged to understand that when your a kid that ain't got shit ANY toy would be welcome.

Seriously, wth is wrong with people? I just got done telling an old friend to go fuck himself for the same reason. He owns a tattoo shop and is an ENORMOUS Star Wars/Batman fan. I found out 2 days ago he has lifted 90% of the toys from the TFT box in his tattoo shop for his own personal collection. Fuck that.

 

Dude, regardles weather it was a joke or not the comment about "not curing cancer" was still uncalled for. Toys for tots is not about curing cancer but for underprivlaged kids to have toys to open for Christmas. I don't think anyone is on their high horse here.

I still can't believe that some one gave all those some what vintage toys for 'Toys for Tots'. That is really cool and I give that person a lot of props.

 

I personally gave a large part of my now defunct Star Wars collection to Goodwill. It was a good tax write off I do admit, but it felt pretty good.

Anyway, onwards and upwords and on topic, I REALLY wish some of my toys (which is quite alot and not just TF's) were still in boxes so I COULD donate them... I don't understand why they won't take opened toys? As far as I can tell you can't hide a razorblade in an Optimus Prime as easily as an apple!

I've been thinking of doing that with a bunch of sealed stuff myself. Personally I would have looked through the box just out of curiosity. There's no harm in looking as long as you don't take anything.

 

Yeah, it might have been harmless to go through them, but it wouldn't have felt right. Besides, it's in the entrance-way of a large building - how would that look to others, seeing me root around a TFT box?

Those that know me, and the toy collection in my office, would have gotten it. But that's only about a dozen people.

 

Well if it really was a joke, then I apologize. It really didn't seem like a joke. That's the problem with typing out jokes, sarcasm and voice tones don't translate well to text.

That is VERY cool that someone gave those TFs! Does anyone know if the Canadian Toys R US stores do the same thing? Wouldn't mind donating something myself. Everything I have is no longer sealed, so I'd have to buy something new.

 

I personally think it was a very swell thing for someone to donate those toys, I mean, they are, after all, just toys, and we as a people should never let ANYTHING material run our lives, it takes a lot of power to give up something you love and an even greater heart to give it to someone unfortunate.
