Recently had a thread about least favorite gimmicks so why not one on our favorites?

And just to get it out of the way now, no saying transforming, not gonna count that one for this.

Anyways I gotta go with either the individual gimmick concept for Animated (rather than a line-wide gimmick each character had something that made them unique) or the more recent c-clip weapons system.

To me the c-clips are mechtech done right. They aren't these giant things with unnecessary mechanics shoved into them that look atrocious on whatever figure you slap them onto in vehicle mode and cut into the budget, yet they still retain that collect and swap ideology and can make for some great fun. I loaded up my voyager DotM Shockwave with all sorts of little guns and it just looked ridiculous..yet badass.

I don't really know if this would count... but the Energon combiner ports which made all combiner toys interchangeable was awesome.

I'm always a fan of the 'master toys as well. Combiners are totally cool as well.

Licensed alt modes are great for me, but that's less "gimmicy" than other things I guess.

I like electronics when they're done well, are non-intrusive, and add to (versus hinder) the toy. My RotF Jetfire continually weeps.

Hmm that's tough. I'm going with Automorphing though. Granted since its inception in the 2007 movie line its been heavily integrated into general "transforming", but it was pretty new then and when done right (a number of CHUG deluxes for example), it adds a lot to the figure.

Cyber Planet Keys were, in my view, Mini-cons done right. The two are pretty similar (with more durable keyes compared to Minicons who could come apart when "pushed), but the implimentation was better and interfered with figure design less.

And I just want to add.... Mechtech is an abomination. ugh. What was Hasbro thinking? Big step back from RotF and 2007 gimmicks.

Does die-cast count? When the paint isn't chipping off it, anyway. XD

Mini-cons. Not that activate gimmicks that hamper design. I like the Targetmasters, Head masters and the like.

My favorite has always been HeadMasters. I'd love to see more of those. I keep hoping HeadRobots will step up with some more like Universe Hardhead - I'd love a bat that turns into a head for Mindwipe.

I'd have to say the Automorph thing when it works right. Like in the first movie Bumblebee's legs.

To be honest, I've always liked it when bots were able to store their weapons & shit, preferably in both modes. Like, I've never really cared about firing missiles or sound effect, but having somewhere to stick the accessories other than in the hands has always done it for me.

If this was already mentioned in one of the threads (maybe one of the powers that be can merge this with the most similar one) then I'm sorry, but it's not like the majority of our posts are gonna be mindblowing & original anyway.

Mini-cons I always loved em but not the car ones. But I also like the c-clip system it really helps with making your own stealth force modes.
