This is along the same vein as "American stereotypes thread, but it got me thinking. I am not American born, my parents immigrated here legally. So I have a unique view at having seen people in my home country and here. There are hicks, rednecks, conservatives, etc in every country - not just the US. But I've noticed that people in the US just seem more "rude". I have seen that even with myself. Compared to my cousins and relatives in my home country - I am definitely not as nice. I think American culture in general gets people to thinking they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. We also take a ton of things for granted in this country that others less fortunate do not. Even the girls here seem much meaner than a girl from Europe, China, India, etc.
Proud to be an american. Don't care what other countries say about us. If the US is so bad then why does everyone want to come over here?
The belief that America offers such great opportunity outweighs having to put up with Americans. That's why some want to come here. Not "everyone." The narcisistic belief in American superiority and that "everyone" wants to come here doesn't help the opinion people have of us.
Maybe its just people in your part are exceptionally more rude. I've lived in two different places in the US and people in place B are waaaay more rude than place A. For example I've got bumped into and pushed at place B and no one would say excuse me or anything (common curtisey I'd think). I don't know though you're probably right since most Americans think they have some sort of entitlement.
Native Hong Kongians are awfully rude. It would seem that the environment of Hong Kong breeds some kind of intolerance culture. Those who moved from Hong Kong to the States could not be more different from their native brethren - they're well-mannered and accepting. First-hand experience from me, folks.
All species have anger and hate as part of their nature, we just happen to manufacture and use weapons to kill ourselves. There's mutual hate between rich and poor people, Japanese and koreans, americans and muslim extremists. We all wear stereotypes of some kind, generating hate amongst those who oppose us. Historically, it always took a catastrophic event to set all differences apart. I honestly hope the next one to be the last, so we can leave this planet and all 'irrational' species in peace.
i don't really know. i'm from nova scotia. we tend to be the nicest friggin people in the whole world, so yeah.
OMG politics and religion. Oh and for a literal answer to the question of the topic, the end up cleaning toilets for three fiddy an hour.
