    toys r us, or at least the one i worked for, crushes them in a big trash compactor.

    With amazon they might sell it at a discount in their warehouse deals section. Some stores like walmart send it back to their distribution center who then bundle it up and it goes to some wholesaler who sells it by the gaylord full to places like goodwill and flea market dealers
