would u have liked if they mentioned the Tunguska event?

i dont know if you guys ever heard of this or not but well

Tunguska event - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Few months ago Albershide made his own theory on Shockwave being the one who did this event

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-movie-discussion/370387-shockwave-theory-spoilers.html

a month later it was confirmed this was the case

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/386691-rising-storm-2-preview-cbr.html

but in the finished film and the Adaptations theres no mention of Shockwave causing such Event. which was kinda dissapoting but im fien with what we saw in the film, so im wondering if you are dissapointed with the fact they never mentioned the tunguska event in the movie or your fine with it

no, was a dumb idea that should die in the fire along with the comics.

Considering that Shockwave barely got any more screen time than Jolt did in ROTF, it would have been a moot point to mention another real event was actually just another Transformer coming to Earth when the much bigger picture was focused on going to the moon and other things.

If Shockwave played a bigger part, then yes, it definitely should have been mentioned.

Seen the movie a couple times now and this entire element that we heard quite a bit about pre-movie was missing completely. It would have accounted for Shockwave and his pet being there.

It's clear that the Soviets were running a program similar to what the Americans were doing with Megatron, only using Shockwave. The times of the discoveries would have been almost exactly the same. Late 1800's (Megatron's discovery) and early 1900s (Tunguska event, crash-landing of Shockwave).

Seems like a whollllleeeee lot of material just got cut out there but they left Shockwave in because he and the pet were visually cool.

My guess: like most movies of this type a lot of tie in material was produced from early drafts and concepts (you know, like the entire original 2007 movie line). It was probably cut out because it would have taken the focus off of the "moon race" aspect an onto a more general parallel Soviet Transformer program going back to Tunguska. In other words, layered another plot thread, which was RotF's problem.

This story was covered in the comic prequel. It showed Shockwave as a complete bad ass Decepticon. If you can believe that!

Had they handled Shockwave correctly, they should have bought it in to the story. As it is, Shockwave was wasted, and any mention of Tunguska would have been pointless as a result.

Yeah, it was odd that NONE of that stuff with Shockwave came up in the movie. The rest did, with Megatron acting as a father to the protoforms, Sentinel's Spacebridge technology, etc.

The movie comics are terrible, contradict the films, are sloppily written and drawn, and are cash tie ins at BEST. They are OBVIOUSLY not canon, and should be disregarded and placed into the .50 cent discount bins with the rest of the cash cow comic tie ins of history. Shame on the movie comics. SHAME

But at least the movie comics give a little more meat to the story, which was left out of the movie.
Personally, I really like the comics. They gave Prime a reason for hating Shockwave, as he killed some of Prime's friends. It also gave us Shockwave fans a bit of service in how utterly bad ass he was.

The Tunguska story had no bearing on anything that was going on the film. To drag it in and go "By the way, there was this whole other thing that happened - it actually doesn't matter at all to what this film is about, but here it is anyway" would just have been a bad idea. I'm fairly sure it was idea that was deliberately conceived to be included in prequel material, rather than in the film itself, since it's in the video game as well as the comic.

And frankly, you can stick your hate for the Dark of the Moon comics up your arse, because they were great and actively enriched my movie-watching experience, since they didn't have the ROTF problem of being immediately contradicted by the film. They were part of a big tapestry that really came together excellently.

If the comics can do for Shockwave, what the Starwars comic and books did for Boba Fett, I'll be a little happier.
