It should be called e3 (empahizing a micro sized e) now, or mini-e3, since the actual E3 was gutted and burried last year. I think developers went into it knowing it wasn't going to be "all that", that's why there wern't any real "earthshattering" announcements. I didn't expect much at all so I wasn't really dissapointed.
I agree that this year's E3 was underwhelming. Its not that a lot of the product looks bad -most of it looks good. It's just that I had seen it all before. I was expecting some huge news of a system selling exclusive from Sony, or something surprising like Knights of the Old Republic 3 for the 360, or some WOW! game for the Wii that I had not yet heard of. None of those things happened. It looked like E3 2006 part 2.
I was amazed at how much E3 blew. Somehow they manage to make some of my most wanted games seem lame.
Wii Fit really took me by surprise. I was aware of Wii Health before the show, but I hadn't heard anything about the Balance Board before then. The fact that I haven't had any regular exercise since I graduated over five years ago probably has something to do with my interest as well... The Balance Board is being released early enough that it has the potential to be an N64 Rumble Pak type success if it's used properly and frequently enough. Can you imagine a Soul Calibur style fighting game with 1:1 Wiimote weapon control and Balance Board control for putting your weight behind an attack, evading, etc.? As usual though, the big question is whether it will be used well or not.
To quote something someone said on another board: "Flash is the new Substance." I'd have to say that maybe 5% of the stuff shown this year has a chance of truly being good.
oh yes Mr.Roboto same here for #1 by the way did u see that ur song was on there playlist so domo arigoto
I'm intrigued now by Assassin's Creed oh and this year's E3 blew shit out the ass. No good presentations, no new annoucements, no real new games no one already knew about. Maybe Mario Kart that's it.
