I just started painting figures recently but I've noticed something horrible since starting. The fumes from Tamiya Acrylics are causing me to develop a lot of phlegm after every time I use it. I tended to cough mounds of this stuff.

I've tried using those masks that doctors use to combat it but it only helped a little. Even a small whiff is enough to cause small phlegm attacks. I work in my room with the window open and the door wide open with a fan on blowing directly at my direction to throw the fumes off and through the door.

What would be the best mask to buy to combat this? Thanks.

I should add that I'm not using sprays but the hand paints. Does this mean anything to anyone?

I actually haven't had any issues here, but if its getting to you, its be worth investing 30 or so in a respirator mask with disposable cartridge filters. My source: years of customization and a roommate who's a professional painter. 3m makes a good one!
