my parents recently cleaned out their attic of me and my brothers stuff, from when we were kids. doing so they came across this playset. i do remember them a bit from when i was a kid but really dont remeber much about it. does anyone know what it is? i have 2 of them with all the pieces in i'd say really great shape for being cardboard!

Is that the S.T.A.R.S. mail-away display playset thing? It doesn't look like it, were there variants? I thought the Japanese fanclub had something like this.

Definitely not the STARS set, that was designd to do double-duty as a pretend computer console for the kid, which was a feature they advertised heavily in the promos, even if there was a design-refresh, I'm sure it would have still included that feature.

I would wager it's simple some retail-available liscenced playset that just isn't seen too often, Hasbro branded 1000's of products in the 80's

That said, I'd kinda love to own one, it'd go great with my Brave Police set! :lol

Ya, it's not STARS, but a retail playset. I remember seeing it in Kmart once.

I would like to see pictures of it up. Seems like a cheaper alternative to the i-Gear Ark set...

I bought one of those, MISB in the cellophane a few months ago. You may have just found several hundred dollars dude. And no, it's not the STARS one.

I had that! It was awful. It was a licensed TF cardboard playset from some no-name company.

Almost word for word what I was going to say. It provided about 20 minutes of enthusiasm, two hours of frustration, and about twelve months of disdain in the back of the closet before I threw it away (years and years and years ago).

I remember specifically warping the cardboard pegs on the upper floor with the prodigious weight of G1 Ironhide and Downshift. If only the Starrior base was bigger...

To the OP, if you plan on assembling and displaying it, be careful if you place anything on the higher tiers...I can't imagine the cardboard has retained its (unparalleled) structural integrity after years in storage.

Thinking that my parents paid money for that makes me sad.

Anyway, my top level didn't last too long, I had Prime up there and it buckled and collapsed under the weight. I honestly don't think I played with it beyond the second day when it tore trying to piece it all back together. Like I said, awful.

posted the pics of it put together on first page. was this ever a pain in the ass to put together it took a half hour the tabs are a little wore out hard to get through the hole. keeping it lined up was fun to, what a bitch.. i would be pissed if i was my dad back then putting it together just to have it fall apart 5 minutes later. if it stays still it stays toghter, but once you move it some part of it pops of or a tab comes out. other than that for this being 25 years old it holds up pretty good and is in pretty damn good shape. havent tested the weight holding abilities yet..but i do have 2 i am willing to get rid of one for a good trade
