It's where they farm Energon. I guess like Energon mines. (Bulkhead's vehicle mode certainly looked like it could work on both)

 

I think they might mine energon, because it looks like (from the glowiness of Cybertron) that energon is a natural thing that just flows around the planet. However, I don't think they can run out of energon like we can run out of oil. Perhaps Cybertron just makes energon continually, but perhaps at a moderately slow rate, which is why Teletraan-1 said they were conserving it.

 

Might be more like an energon refinery.
Although we don't know a lot about energon in this continuity.

If Teletran-1 is to be trusted. Then there seems to be a shortage of the stuff.
Or at least there was 50 years ago.

There might still be a shortage now, the only thing we've heard about energon during the time Optimus and his crew were battling Decepticons on Earth is that the AeroTwins worked at an energon refinery plant before they received their reformatting, downloading of Starscreams' code, etc. It's apparently a dangerous job, as their deaths there imply. o.0

That would be my thought. Or something like a geo-thermal and wind farm combined where they turn other energies into Energon.

...Oh, seriously? Well, umm... I pretty much thought Energon Farms to be like a refinery or something of that nature.

 

i think a energon farm is where they manufacture energon. an energon refinery is wher they refine the energon into a more stable and manipulatable state. an energon station is where buy and fuel up on energon. i think in transformer animated energon is kinda like a hard to manufacture sugar.
