There isn't a huge amount of difference between this thread and all the what does your significant other think of your transformers threads accent it's less easy to do that joke about your hands liking them.

I think discussing this franchises appeal to diverse groups is incredibly interesting.

Single but if a new gf asked me to give up my tf's I would say sure and with all that money I would get, I would go over to Thailand get drunk do drugs and watch ping pong shows like a good adult should :)

To be honest I am strict about the amount of tf's I buy these days and always pay my bills first and have a bit towards my savings.
So if she can't handle that then she not the women for me.

Very well put. Just imagine selling your entire collection, all the stuff it took you ages to find, all the money you spent... then, a few months later, she tells you to go to hell, because she found someone more "Alpha male" than you. All of a sudden, you're alone, probably heartbroken, and all your little robot friends are gone, forever.

On a personal note, I would never give up my dear hobby, whatever it be, for anyone.

Just like I wouldn't put all guys in one boat, I'd suggest not putting all women in one boat either.... I like to think there's plenty of both sexes who see 'toy' collectors as immature... but then there's plenty of both sexes who enjoy collecting and those who collect.

It might also be a 'opposites attract' that saves them from doom too... if both collect toy lines or movie memorabilia then the couple will probably wind up broke... or nowhere to live, because all the toys have taken over the house. :lol

My girlfriend loves car racing and even does a spot of race driving herself, but I have pretty much zero interest in it as it kind falls under the umbrella of sports for me and I find sports as dull as ditch water. The moment she starts talking about racing my eyes glaze over and the theme music from The Magic Roundabout starts to play in my head on a continuous loop:

But it doesn't stop us loving each other and having lots of other things in common and shared interests. :)
You can be in a relationship with a partner and not have sex.

    I believe it's called 'being married'. :p

    Yup!
My fella doesn't mind it, and he's got a few transformers of his own, but he does worry if I seem to get too obsessed with them, or spend too much time on internet message boards about them.

My ex actually tried to do that to me. If I hadn't come home when I did all my TF stuff would've been gone in the van of some guy she'd intended to sell it to.

My GF doesn't mind it at all. I'm kind of surprised to be honest. Maybe its because I don't spend an insane amount of money? Maybe its because I'm responsible and make sure all our bills are paid and food is on the table before I buy figures? Not sure. But she definitley supports my TF and toy collecting in general. She bought me a Lego Helicarrierfor my birthday :)

when I first met my ex-wife, it was when energon was on and I was collecting pretty hard core between the new stuff and G1 stuff on ebay. She HATED that I collected toys and one of the reasons I left her was she was throwing out my comics and toys and thinking I wouldn't notice. There were larger reasons I left her too, but its not appropriate to discuss here. It took me like 6 years to replace everything she threw out. So I stopped collecting Transformers when Cybertron came out and started focusing on Justice League Unlimited figures which is mainly what I collect now. and when I say collect, I make customs. I just hit 1000 customs made
