    Repaints happen..that is just a fact. Some are very minor, to the point it is hard to tell the difference between the repaint and the original. Some end up differing quite a bit from the original model. Sometimes Hasbro does it right and creates a demand for a figure, while other times they just sit on the shelves (I'm looking at you, Tuner Mudflap and Skids).

    For me, it is rare for me to buy a repaint because I enjoy transformers mostly for the transformation aspect, and it is no fun to have two figures that do the same thing. however, I will at times by a repaint if it offers enough differences to justify the character.

    Usually, what it takes is:

    1.) For me not to have bought the original toy.

    I do have a few repaints, but I don't think I've ever bought a repaint of a toy I already owned, going all the way back to the 1980s.

    If I like the mold I'll buy the repaint. Simple as that.

    Well, if we're excluding remolds/retools, I have bought:

    HFTD Payload (ROTF Long Haul redeco) and HFTD Banzaitron (ROTF Bludgeon redeco) because I really liked both molds and because I like Payload's paint scheme better than Long Haul's;

    HFTD Night Ops Ratchet because I liked the paint scheme and because his on-package bio mentioned Payload, who I already had;

    RTS Deep Dive (HFTD Sea Spray redeco) and RTS Strafe (ROTF Mindwipe redeco) because they were hard to find and I thought they might go up in value;

    HFTD Oil Pan (ROTF Brakedown redeco) because I had a customization idea for him that I have yet to act upon and because I liked the mold;

    HFTD Sunspot (ROTF Skystalker redeco) because I missed Skystalker and I wanted some version of the mold.

    I've bought other redecoes for any combination of the reasons listed above.

    Assuming I already own the first use of the mold, there's a couple of different factors that might convince me to buy another copy. Like the character interesting me, or said character filling a spot in my collection (like the Seekers). The deco could be amazing enough to make me want to replace the first version, like with Classics Hot Rod/Rodimus. In the end, it's a very case-by-case matter. It helps that I've got no issue with repaints in the first place.

    That's usually the cases for me.

    I very rarely buy repaints, but there are a few exceptions:
    - Cyberverse Commanders Megatron and Optimus: got several varieties of each to get all their accessories. Target was practically giving these guys away, what with near-constantly lowered prices and BOGOfrees.
    - green Powerglide: he homages one of my all-time favorite TFs (the Fuzor Sky Shadow), and goes with green Springer and green Air Raid much better than the red one I picked up earlier.
    - Sunspot: I LOVE the Skystalker mold, and couldn't resist giving Mindwipe both a shoulder angel and demon (and he was only $5).

    I'm far more willing to buy smaller figures again than larger ones. Passed on blue The Fallen despite the removable face and staff because I already had the original The Fallen.

    if it's really, really great. banzaitron from bludgeon is the only one of these i've run into, since mostly i buy for the character itself, not the separate paintjobs.

    For me to buy a repaint, it needs to be something that catches my eye. It doesn't necessarily need to have a new headsculpt or weapons, it just needs to be something that says "You need to buy me!". I guess that's why I'm a sucker for Seeker repaints or any G1-variants. :lol

    just depends...

    i liked the DOTM Sideswipe toy quite a bit, but if they released a version in red I would buy it in a heartbeat. G1 decos will greatly increase the odds of me purchasing a movie toy.

    I am getting the FE Bumblebee...i will NOT be getting the RID Bumblebee but I will be getting his blue redeco who I believe is being sold as Hot Shot. He looks good in blue, his mold is different enough from the FE Bumblebee plus he has a unique head. So in this case I am opting for a repaint of a new mold of an older (if only slightly) toy.

    Seekers will get me to buy the same mold repeatedly....
