    I mean, besides a Megajet?

A better neck, of course. In this situation, Springer needs to merely turn into a helicopter and Gigatron is literally powerless, unable to even see his opponent. This won't do.

Just drilled a small hole in the top of his neck-peg, glued a small ball joint in there and put the head back on so it now sits on top of the peg and has a little more range of motion. No issue with transformation, there's tons of room in there..

I may fill in the neck with some epoxy to make it look more like a neck and less like a neck with a peg on top, but I want to make sure I like it before making the mod permanent. Right now all I'd need to do to reverse it is saw off the peg inside his head and nobody would ever be the wiser unless I opened up the head and showed it to them.

    What say you?

Well he looks a lot better with the balljointed neck bro.

But honestly IMO nothing can save this mold as Overlord...Just does not fit the character. Not to mention that the head looks a tad to big for the body.

Anyway...Good work man, he looks better this way.

I appreciate the kind words, and I respect your opinion. I certainly see why people don't like it, but there's all kinds of threads to talk about how we feel about Gigatron, the figure. Obviously I like the mold, I bought it.

    Thanks for clicking, though.

Nicely done! Tempted to do this as it really adds a lot, but not sure I want to tinker too much with an exclusive. Thankfully, like you said, it's an easy mod to reverse.

As an aside, I'm fascinated at how his head seems to mass shift, based on perspective. I can look at him from one angle, and he looks fine. Change the angle, and his head makes Eric Stoltz's in Mask look tiny. Still love this guy, though.

EDIT: Damn it. Fixed. Thanks, Nefud. That's what I get for trying to be funny when sleepy.

Thanks fellas. I agree.. a smaller head would improve this, though I think the head sculpt is otherwise delightful... and I'd take too big but awesome over regular-sized and derpy (Metalhawk :\) any day. I'm generally usually a little shocked at how much of a difference a ball-jointed neck makes. It's one of those things like knees.. never had 'em in G1, but it bugs the crap out of me when we don't have 'em now. Enough to fuck up an exclusive, I guess.

Also, I propose we now call Gigatron "Bachelor Overlord" (because his wife is missing).

    Looks good.

Would be cool to make a jet for it that connects like armor plating with better feet and arms. And without having to mod the toy as all. ......hummmmmmmm light bulb.....

Nice mod. IMO it'd have been more acceptable if they had tweaked the arms and legs a bit. Nothing fancy, just fill the gaps, namely hide the MechAlive, and change those silly feet; all scream Movie-Verse.

Sweet! The ability to look up is vastly under rated!

I appreciate the idea of changing the arms and legs, but it's not like that's a simple matter. You might as well use a completely different figure at that point... which doesn't exist.

I think of Gigatron as Overlord before he met his wife/before he was a powermaster. In their several TV appearances and fewer comic appearances, Megajet and Gigatank were never shown to have their own alt-modes, only a combined form.. but there's no reason to think they didn't have them. It's like Ultra Magnus' white robot. Never saw it in the show, but you knew it was there. Being a samurai definitely fits (human) Giga's personality anyway, even if the mech-alive is a little obviously "movie influenced" (which I don't particularly consider a bad thing, especially on decepticons.

Didn't necessarily want to defend the merits of the figure, but there's not a lot to talk about besides "nice neck," "thanks"

    So.. here we are.

I'm not a fan of the mold choice but that's water under the bridge and what you've done is great. I think more could be done with this mold-- I'm working on a fix to make the feet more "normal" while still allowing for transformation. If I can get it figured in a way that isn't suicide-inducing I'll be sure to post it.

Please do! I am interested in what MaidenJapan has cooking for the mold, but I'm afraid that hindering transformation somewhat defeats the purpose for me. In general I'm happy with how he is, I don't need him to look exactly like G1 Overlord, but I like the figure enough that I'm interested in seeing what anyone does to him :)
