We've seen threads concerning the likes of Universe, Movie, Animated, yadiyada, so what are your thoughts concerning the line that helped bring Transformers back into the main fray? Quite frankly, I loved it. Was a step up in terms of articulation and better character representation of the animated series, not to mention it got me interested in Transformers and its various mythologies and looking back I feel that it was a unique step in the franchise.

I absolutely LOVED Beast Wars. I need maybe a dozen figures to complete the line.

    Recent Purchases

Yeah I recently procured Corahda and Archadis and I'm loving these figures, just amazed at how they managed to pull off Corahda's transformation, its was something I used to think was only a dream when I was a wee squirt, hehe.

I just don't like BW from the fact that a robot should transform into something mechanical, not some biological looking creature

    but that just me

    I hated Beast Wars.
    Prime shouldn't be a monkey.
Predacon as an allegiance, not a combiner?
Dinobot? As a name. Original. I suppose the Decep / Preds have one called Insecticon? Oh they do. Great.
    Wasps and spiders?
Biological robots is everything I hated about the pretender shells in G1.
The toys are all plastic, no metal in sight, yuk.

Still bought the toys, then I watched the show.

After watching the show I was very glad I bought the toys. I love Beast Wars, the toyline has a share of duffers like all lines, but it also has some of the most unique figures ever, especially when you take into account Neo and BW2. It took the ball-joint technology that was in its infancy during G2 and perfected it, showing that all lines have a place in the lineage of Transfandom, even bright orange neon G2 figures and singular monkeys named after a fleet of vehicles.

My favourite thing though, was the explanation for why they needed biological bodies: to protect them from the high energon.
    "Why do you Transform jeep-bot?"
"Uh, uh, it sure beats walking?!?"
"and why do you Transform rat creature?"
"If I don't my body will absorb too much energy, fry my circuits, my body will go into stasis lock and my spark could extinguish."

Utter pants, redeemed only by the awesomeness that is Polar Claw. If you own any Beast Wars figures that aren't Polar Claw (or Batimus Prime at a push), you should throw them out and replace them with more Polar Claws.
Yeah, I thought that was bollocks as well.

Haha, that's one way of interpreting it. For a self-imposed restriction which they undid by the start of the second series, I quite liked it. But I suppose at the end of the day it's a midi-chlorian thing, you don't need to explain everything - why do they transform? they just do!

I wish these "what do you think of toyline X?" polls had wider scales, like 1-10 or even 1-5. Summing up a whole toyline as roxxorz/suxxorz/don't carexxorz doesn't work for a lot of things.

I went with "awesome", just for being the first kickass TF toy line to kick some ass since I returned to the TF fold. Still, it's a mixed bag like any other (more so when you consider BW would probably be three separate toy lines by today's way of doing things.)

Oh, and Polar Claw is crap attached to a bat. :D

Just average. I thought the toys were excellent from the Transmetals on, but most of the pre-Transmetal figures were fairly weak.

    Variety

Beast Wars is my second favorite(Gn.1 is and always will be the first) just for the simple fact that it was something different.Yea,there was Insecticons,Dinobots and other animal-based transformers but something about these had that extra appeal,in storylines and the figures themselves.
