Well, now that we know the plot for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, what do you think of it?

I said: Yes. I like how they incorporate multiple stories from the Transformers TV shows.

Orci said they are getting deeper with the mythology of the transformers. So this certainly concludes that. The sun powering the cube and that whole bit is pretty deep. I will have to see this on the big screen before I pass judgement.

Yeah, Orci and Kurtzman certainly upped the ante, from destroying planets in Star Trek to the AllSpark absorbing stars in ROTF. Anyone notice how the AllSpark's solar powered nature echoes Primus' status as 'lord of light'?

Pleasantly surprised thus far. I like the little nods to certain parts of the TF mythology/history.

From the way it sounds, I can dig what they are going for. It feels like a classic TF plot whithout being a complete rehash of what's already been done before.

Exactly. It seems like it's a homage to quite a few classic tf plots, but at the same time creating something that feels original.

    Yeah plot seems great.
Makes the whole allspark landing on earth and not one of the billions of other lifeless planets seem more credible.

Im guessing Jetfire is going to play a big role too maybe one of the fallens brothers.............altho that wouldnt describe why he was once a decepticon.

The plot could work - but I want Primus in the TF backstory! It's just not right without him. I hope he's in there somehow.

    I'm a touch confused.

What differentiates The Fallen from a Transformer then? Is it just order of being? He's created by the Allspark, he's mechanical, he turns into a...thingy. What's different about him that makes him not a Transformer?

So, aside from being created later to man the Sun-Suckers, what makes the latter-day TFs different from him? I guess he has powers they lack, but that just makes him a mightier, primordial TF.

    So, I'm ambivalent.

On the other hand, I do like that they actually explained why the Allspark actually ended up on Earth as opposed to "just because". There's a Sun-Sucker on Earth, waiting to be activated and feed it.

But why would the other originals trap themselves in sarcophagi?

I don't really mind. As long as Bay, Orci, and Kurtzman get the Transformers/human ratio right, I'll be content.

Maybe it was a all or nothing kind of scenario. They had to make a sacrifice in order to trap the Fallen.
Like in the original story of Primus and Unicron from the comics: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Primus Primus had to use his power to trap Unicron into a planet form, but in doing so it had the same effect on himself.

    That's just my theory though.

Props to Bob and Alex for taking the time to search trhough the abundance of source material and pick out a very interesting plot. It not only strengthens plot threads that seemed a bit loose or generic in TF1, it introduces some cool new concepts. When we first saw the coloring book and it was revealed the Cons wanted to destroy the sun, I had a feeling it had something to do with the energy the sun contained. I was right.

It's alot more believable to me than "SUDDENLY, GUY FROM DREAMWAVE SHOWS UP BEFORE YOU KNEW HE WAS THERE AND TOTALLY STARTED THE DECEPTICONS", and I really like the idea of a... pre-transformers race on Cybertron.

It sounds cool. I echo the sentiment that it's a classic-style plot, but not a straight rehash.

    it's.... interesting
though it's one thing to see that backstory in comics, i have to wonder how they're going to translate that into the movie
