I started watching SE Transformers DVD and visual quality is bad. I have seen bootlegs with better visual clearty!!! Man it chaps my crankshaft that the best flick ever is not on Blu-Ray. Guess i am going to have to buy an HDDVD just to get Transformers on HD. What are your thoughts people?

Totally agree, I was actually surprised at how amazing the quality was on the regular DVD edition.

I find it hard to believe it is that bad.
I will post again after watching it upscaled on my HD TV. I bet it will look great though.

Why watch it in 480? the PS3 will upscale to 720. Limits of you projector?

Is the black bar at the bottom and top really large? I ask because on the commercials saying the DVD is released on Tuesday they looked like they took up a substantial portion of the screen.

Well there's your issue right there. PS3 and a DLP projector. From my experiance, DLP projectors and rear projection DLP TVs are really horrible with anything fast moving. You end out with odd artifacting and square blocks that ghost around the screen. PS3 is a decent Blu-Ray player, but it seems to somewhat lack when playing regular DVDs. :(
I'm perfectly happy playing the movie on my computer with full widescreen and 5.1 surround sound. ;)

Same here. Backscatter & I loved it. Love the Wal-mart Beginnings also!
We agree, it is probably how you chose to view your copy. BTW PS3 is a Blu-Ray player...that could be a factor.

In all honesty, I think I saw more of the smaller details than I did on the big screen, but would not trade any of those viewings for the world either!

Yeah, quality is perfect. I noticed plenty of small details that I never did any of the 5 times I saw it in theaters. Anyone saying it's junk is either being a negative idiot, or just has old hardware.

I was wondering if anyone was planning on making an HD screencap/request thread? I didn't want to make one, since I can't actually contribute anything :(

I am watching it on my media/gaming pc and it looked beautiful. Of course I have a huge HD lcd screen as well. It looks amazing. The sound was awesome. I love it.

Hmm, never had any issues with DVD playback because of my PS3 being a blu-ray player. It actually upscales my standard DVDs very nicely, even some of my older ones.

the PS3 is a great DVD player. I used a PS3 to watch the movie and it was crystal clear. much better than the once-$200 DVD player sitting in the living room.

PS3 and 60" SXRD here. Looks amazingly good. I get the HD DVD player next week, can't wait for that one.

It may be the transfer from the ps3 to the projector... what kind of wires are you using?.. maybe try doing a PS3 to tv.. and see what happens. May just be the type of wires you're using.

This is a bunch of crap. I have a PS3 and a rear projection 1080p JVC 55" TV(via HDMI) and I can tell you the movie looked awesome.

I agree with ranoobu. It's either the cables or the projector.
