I love Beast Machines. Its an extremely well written series with well developed characters. I love the the mature, dark tone and plot. In my opinion its the second best TF series behind only Animated.
I give it a 9/10. What about you?

Yeah, it's a 9 for me, as well. It's my third favorite behind G1 and Beast Wars.

Nine's about right. Would probably give it a solid ten were it not for Nightscream.

I don't like how Megatron died. He flies around for half the episode...yet falls to his death. What?

Overall I don't think BM was that bad.

With some bad characters, unexplained changes, poor villains and crap designs pulling down its points from dark tone, strong plot, good character development, magnificent Megatron and surprising plot twists, I'd rate it about 8/10.

Beast Machines is probably one of my favorite of all the Transformers series, not perfect but one I readily rewatch.

I fail to see any changes that were unexplained.

No such thing. Megatron was great and the Vehicon generals were the best part of the show.

BM had some of the best designs ever.

I started to watch it, but I couldn't get past those designs. Especially Blackarachnia's spider mode; that SCARED me. I'm still going to start to watch it again at some point, but I'm sticking to TFP for now.

    9. Great writing, dark setting and believable characterisation changes. Only taking a point off for being brief and not having the animation models accurate to the toys

I give it a 7/10. There are some continuity errors with Beast Wars and the character designs are a bit iffy at times, but I still enjoy Beast Machines for many other aspects.

Beast Machines in a vacuum is very good. Unfortunately it's supposed to be a sequel to the fantastic Beast Wars. Drastic character changes and an awful theme (for a Transformers series) really hurt this show to me. I was forced to give it a 6.5, rounded up.

They completely NAILED Cheetor's arc though.

I'd give it a solid 7. That's because I didn't like the changes to Silverbolt, Nightscream as a whole, and how preachy Prime was for the first part.

Hard to rate Beast Machines because it inevitably gets compared to Beast Wars. It's such a jarring difference on so many levels -- no more rubber duckies or Warner Bros.-esque sight gags; heavy philosophical threads; bot modes are no longer like anthro-animals, rather they're "hipsters" or 'traditional' machine; Maximals on the run; sudden/extreme character changes (explained or not, they're still drastic). I'm all for different TF series being completely different from each other, though it's just odd for it to happen to a "sequel"; certainly wouldn't expect a sequel to, say, RiD to start of with Sky-Byte murdering some 'Bot.

Even without the BW comparisons, there are several major things I don't like about Beast Machines. The actual transformation animation resembling, for want of better comparison, Pokemon; preachy Optimal; Silverbolt constant self-loathing; flight-capable Megatron falling to his death; how techno-organic was represented by swirls of blue and green; Nightscream.
