Whether you play with your toys or just don't like their given names, what do you call your toys. You can name ALL your toys in this thread, or just the ones you've given different names Guess I'll start: Autobots/ Cybertrons: Classics Jetfire: Skyfire Galaxy Force Sonic Bomber: Star Saber Classics Magnus: Powered Convoy Cybertron Galaxy Force Prime: God Ginrai Cybertron (bendy) Prime: Dream Convoy Cybertron Defense Red Alert: Perceptor Cybertron Override GTS: Elita 1 Cybertron Downshift: Wheeljack Energon Tow-Line: Skids Decepticons/ Destrons: Cybertron Megatron: Megaplex Armada Galvatron: Gigatron Car Robots Gigatron: Deszaras Cybertron Dark Scorponok: Black Zarak Armada Sideways: Double-Face Cybertron Shortround: Seaspray Energon Shockblast: Shockwave Micron Legend Shockwave: Overlord Cybertron Nemesis Breaker: Leokaiser Cyberton Thunderblast: Cromia Energon Bruticus Maximus: Bruticus All my others keep their official names
I call them by their official names, except in special cases where I feel they need correcting: Autobot/Decepticon So-And-So automatically gets the faction prefix dropped. Machine Wars Megatron and Megaplex get their names switched. Transmetal Scavenger is Inferno. Rodimus Major is Hot Rod. Silverstreak is Bluestreak.
I know where you're coming from... I'm kind of in the process of renaming my TFs according to how I "see" them. A lot of the time as a kid, I didn't use the official names for most of my toys... why start now? Plus I can't help it... even though I don't play with my TFs, some part of my brain just wants to reconcile as many of them as possible to one (very G1-ish) "continuity". Most of them are obvious... Energon Downshift becomes Wheeljack, Shockblast becomes Shockwave stuff like that. But others, I'm prepping for customizing, so they match their new names. I can't quite bring myself to rename them till I get them finished, but most of them will be obvious homages. Others I don't know what to call them... the new names for recent TFs just carry no weight with me. zmog
Their official names...unless it's a kit bash...(will name the character's official name I'm creating)... sometimes though I do see differently than Hasbro... classics Rodimus = Hot Rod to me... or... energon Shockblast = Shockwave to me... and so on...
I just call em by the proper names, or something else If I forget heh.... sometimes though I have a tendancy to call a smaller megatron megastorm... like I have my small energon megatron out and my energon galvatron... so then lil megs becomes megastorm. (and i call rid megs by his jap name but thats not really changing it cause that is its real name anyways) oh ya and the shockblast = shockwave and downshift = wheeljack kinda thing but thats ovious.
Okay, I'll play! While I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, I do mentally rename a few figures. Either because I feel they were "intended" to be someone else or, occasionally, just because I think they match other characters better. These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head: Classics 2-pack Megatron = Bludgeon E. Downshift = Wheeljack BT Prowl = Clampdown (only because I customized a BT Alert into a more Prowl-y Prowl, and with his flat-hood chest the original BT Prowl looks a lot like Clampdown to me) BT Alert = Inferno.... again, because I have a custom Red Alert that, to me, looks more like the character BT Blue Prowl = Deep Cover... hell, why not? BT Yellow Tracks = Hubcap... because he's yellow, his face is red/orange, and I don't need two figures called "Tracks." Silverstreak = Bluestreak Broadblast = Blaster Shockblast/Laserwave = Shockwave Alt. Decepticharge = Dragstrip Any "Rodimus" = Hot Rod Meister = Jazz C. Lugnutz = Alt. Wheelie C. Hightail = Alt. Windcharger (I know, there was already a Windcharger... but instead of him, I have the BT Overdrive, who the character was clearly intended to be. I needed a fill-in Windcharger, and so, little Hightail got renamed!) That's actually about it. Oh, and I guess I should add, these are mostly the "mental" names I use for them. If anyone ASKS me what their name is, I tell them the original name. 'Cause, you know, I don't want to be known as a weirdo who renames my toys.
There's only one that I'm going to call a different name from it's official one, and that's the Cybertron Skywarp that I have. I haven't come up with a good name for him yet, and I might end up kitbashing him. Peace out.
Alternators Meister = Jazz Universe Downshift = Wheeljack Cybertron Red Alert = Ratchet, Mr. Paranoid
I have no toys. However I have a boat loads of Action Figures. I also let them keep their official names. Still, I always feel any "Downshift" is in reality G1 Wheeljack. He's fooled us all and his death was greatly exaggreated. Only after I apply Reprolabels!
Classics Rodimus/Commemerative Rodimus = Hot Rod E. Downshift = Wheeljack Alt. Meister = Jazz God Ginrai = Optimus Prime/ Hi- Q Shockblast= Shockwave Kup= Shitpiece
I don't even know whichum was officially which anymore, but The Universe RiD repaints are Red Alert and Inferno despite what the packaging may have said. Other than that, Energon Downshift = Wheeljack. The obligatory Meister/Shockblast = Jazz/Shockwave. S'about it I think.
I keep wanting to 'fix' the names of toys, but then I'd have to keep the given names in a mental database for everyone who gets confused if I mention "Cybertron Wheeljack" or some such.
