I've seen yellowing (and greening) on some modern Stormtroopers and Storm Shadows. The Classics Ultra Magnus I used to have got a bit creamy too.

as far as dust i know the ikea Detolf are not dust free, maybe because im away from carpet but shelves are pretty dust free so far after two months of them. So maybe having them on a solid surface might help too

mine are in a china hutch cabinet with 2 small white bulbs, also on the glass i put uv lightprotective film(hardware store). dust regular and transform every so often for fun and keep joints from getting stiff.

I do notice i get some sunlight that bounces off my hallway mirrors onto my lower figures...could that be considered direct sunlight or indirect sunlight?

I have an RID Prowl on my desk at work (close to 10 years now), which is constantly exposed to florescent lighting and the back half has become very very yellow.

Keep them away from UV light and cig smoke. But it can happen anyway, there's no 100% prevention.

I'm currently testing the hydrogen peroxide 3% + sunlight cure on a banana yellow FortMax chest piece, will update with results.

UV light. Get anti-UV tinted glass to prevent it.

Move the mirror. I about had a heart attack when I saw a similar situation happening when I moved my figs to another room. I put the shelf on the same wall as the windows to avoid any direct light and woke up and saw the damn mirror on the opposite wall reflecting the light right back onto my shelf. The mirror was relocated. It wasn't in that position long enough to have any negative effects luckily.

Ummm the mirror is the size of the entire half the house lol probably costs a lot of money to remove or replace. Not sure of reflected sunlight is damaging I'm guessing mirror absorbs some uv rays

My clear Car Robo Brothers have yellowed in the last couple of years significantly. I never display them and have kept then in their original packaging all the time. Sounds like the perfect vacuum was the way to go, and it's impossible :(

Mirrors (well, the glass front layer actually) absorb all UVB rays but none of the UVA rays, which are the ones that yellow plastic (and cause cancer, but not sunburns). No UVB is getting into your house at all through window glass, and since the aluminum coating on mirrors reflect UVA very well, toys are just as exposed to yellowing by mirror-reflected light as they are from direct light.

Well the skylight window is the cause and it's like 30 feet high. So this light comes through the ceiling window and hits Mirror and bounces onto my case. Maybe I'll move them to my other living room where there is less light

Hate to dig up an old thread, but does anyone know if there is a way to remove yellowing from plastic bubbles? I have something MOSC that the plastic has yellowed quite badly on.

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be using an LED lamp meant for aquatic plants to light my figures:confused2

I'm doing a bit of research and apparently LED lamps like the one I have don't emit UV light.

Lighting and UV radiation: where do LEDs fit in? - LeapFrogLighting | LeapFrogLighting

This is the lamp I was using:

    Innovative Marine

I may be in the clear but just to be safe I'm gonna hold off using it again til I do more research on the matter.

    What about Diecast?

I can check all of above precautions. I even used an aquarium with UV ray protective coating. I smoke only outside the house because of my kids. I don't even play with my BTs and ALTs).

    Yet I get this.

The location of the said toy is all the way in the back. http://youtu.be/aV4dGLZaN1w?t=11m45s

None of the Alternators nor other Binaltech got this kind of degredation. Only Binaltech Bluestreak. As you can see on the pic example only certain areas are affected.

Not yellowing but worse it looks like it's turning green. As if it's the composition of the paint or something.

those parts that are turning green are plastic, i believe, not diecast.

i wish the entire figure would age the same. it'd be less notable that way.

Ohhh. I don't have it on hand right now but that makes sense. :)

Ack. I'll check it out when I get home.

    Thank you.

But it still wouldn't explain why only BT-Bluestreak and not others in a perfectly UV ray protected and untouched environment.
