OK, so there is something I have been seriously debating with my new budget. I really cannot buy multiple of the same combiner. Also, why the fuck should I buy multiple of the same combiner? I mean, I think this budget is a good thing as it stops me from doing dumb things like that. Having said that, I am going to get the Green Giant.

However, moving forward I don't know what to do. It is nice that we are getting all the combiners out there, but the thing that sucks is that there is no continuity among them. Basically all of the different 3rd party companies are using their own Scale Size and their own designs to make their figures.

That mean that we will have all different combiners that look completely different in my collection. I mean I think we can all say that FP design is nothing like TFCs, and Maketoys takes a different approach then FP even though there maybe similarities between Maketoys and FP. Even then TFC and MT and FP will have different scales.

So the question becomes, wtf to do? The compulsive collector in me says get TFC Superion. The realist in me says, your already getting Green Giant because at least you can pose them in scale with FP Menasor. But even then, will Menasor even look like he could be posed next to Giants, or will the aesthetics be as different as FP Bruticus. It's enough to drive you bloody mad. Then you add in the cost of these figures, and you can go bonkers.

So what do you guys think. How are you guys going to handle this?

Personally, I would like it if these 3rd Party companies would at least show us the final design and put them side by side with other combiners. In this way we know as consumers what were getting. I know it's unrealistic to think they will ever do this, but it would at least make life easier.

Also, anyone else surprised we haven't seen an official boxset for Hercules yet?

i choose the pick and stick method

tfc seems to be on the path of doing every combiner with concept art shown for 2 more its unlikely they wont take a stab at others the likes of bruticus and menesor. it was just smart on their part to start with one we havent gotten an update of IE hercules.

superion despite the bickering will likely end up being awesome and they seem to really cater to the fans

defensor we got a cheat coloration of though i dont think thats been made availible but i think is kinda dumb for them to not really follow the art work and do a legit version

even though it goes against what im saying fp menesor will be shorter but isnt that ok? cars shoudl be smaller than construction equipment and planes right?

i dont see the need for multiples in my collection so if i see one i like better than its predacessor (sp*) i will likely swap them out and sell one to help with the cost of the other, which is what i intend to do with fp's superion.

so for me ill stick with one be perfectly ok with it cause at this point they cant all go on the same shelf anyway

Buy what I like. Not buy what I don't. just like with everything.

And since when were constructions vehicles in scale with cars?

I want a not-Superion that is larger than a not-Menasor, because, well, planes are larger than cars.

Depends on how much a scale nut you are. FP Menasor should look really good next to Herc and Uranus as he should really be smaller.....but then if your on the page that all combiners should be equal height then your screwed.

Everyone is gonna have a different answer to what suits their collection best.......and that's all without factoring in any future Masterpiece combiners!

The scale thing doesn't drive me as crazy as the asthetic thing.

FP Bruticus and Superion look nothing like TFC Hercules. The asthetics (to me at least) are completely different.

I love FP Bruticus as a toy, and I am willing to accept him as FP Bruticus. But if you showed me him, and said is he supposed to represent a Transformers character, it would be hard for me to come up with Bruticus. I would think he was something out of the Gundam universe.

I am going to wait and see how they turn out before I bite. If I had to guess, I'd say I will probably go with FP Menasor because it'll cost alot less than TFC Superion. Don't really have an interest in the others.

I buy what I think is cool if the price is right.

But I have to say, I can't see the supposed drastic difference in aesthetics between Giant and Herc. Yes they look different but they don't look out of place with classics.

But if I showed you that toy and said, what was this made for, would you off the cuff say, TFers Classics line? Also, would you know what character he was off the bat?

Now if I showed you Hercules, how much quicker would you say, that's Devastator. Could be classics or comic book line?

Buy the figures because they're cool, not because they fit a certain scale or aesthetic. I have tons of standalone figures in my collection, nothing wrong with that.

Right now with the info we have of what is to come I am leaning towards sticking with the FP/MT duo.

The two companies seem to share a lot of the same aesthetics choices AND (this is a big AND) they are in scale to one another. When all is said and done with these two companies we will have Bruticus, Devastator, Menasor and Computron. They also have the advantage of being two companies so they can release figures twice as fast.

As for TFC, I like Herc a lot, I bought Giant (still waiting) but decided to keep both. Herc is now a stand alone MPish display piece. Now, do I need a Stand alone MPish Superion? At this moment, the answer is a very solid NO!

    MMC Predaking...Too soon to tell.

Long and short? Currently I am standing behind the dynamic duo of FP and MT. Thi smay or may not change one day.

In my case, I went with Green Giant. I'll be getting TFC Superion despite having the FP enhanced Superion, because planes should be bigger than most construction vehicles. Other than that, I'm not that interested in TFC products - I find FP/MT to have superior aesthetics and engingeering.

I'll get FP Menasor, and would buy into a FP/MT new Bruticus, Defensor, and Computron in that order. I have no interest in any other combiners - Computron barely makes the cut. My preferred style is pre-Movie G1, where they mostly turned into existing vehicles.

MMC Predaking may be interesting, but given the Hexatron delays, I wouldn't expect to see it before 2014, so I have plenty of time to reevaluate.

As long as the combined mode and the individual modes are reasonably pose able I'll get them.

    I have a simple system,

If it's not got a strong G1 aesthetic or made in the correct scale to go with the rest of my display I don't buy it.

I'm pretty much all in on TFC's combiners. Hercules is currently the centerpiece of my Cons display and I hope to have him posed fighting against Uranus/not-Superion by sometime next year. Once MP-13 drops, (Raged) Hercules will be moved to make room for Soundwave. I may reenact in my glass display case that one DW comic scene with Herc/Uranus and the Seekers (I'll use my Henkei for scale purposes).

Already have FP Bruticus and MT Green Giant (still in my PoL). FP Menasor will be added for a three-way Con combiner brawl (a la Starscream's Brigade), along with my G1 Revoltech figures for scale purposes (Convoy, Megatron, Starscream, and custom painted Skywarp; will add a custom Thundercracker some day).

I don't care for FP Superion since he seems pretty shrimpy; a decent effort by FP with one of their first combiner add-on sets, but it doesn't look enough like Superion for me so he's a pass (Uranus is more than adequate).

Computron, Predaking, Star Cats not-Defensor.... I'm not too sure. Will need to see final product shots and see how they scale with other figures before I decide. I kinda hope TFC tackles Bruticus (my fave gestalt) as their next combiner, though I'm sure other folks would rage and disagree. I won't complain if TFC makes Omega Supreme instead though.

It's actually getting easier for me to pick and choose now, because I only have a certain amount of displaying space, and I'm not going to grab them all, and have them sit in rubber tubs (like the PCA wants me to do) I'm going with MT/FP because I enjoy there size and aesthetics for the style I'm going with in my collection. (BUT) I may pick up a TFC combiner if I'm just blown away, and have it be a standalone fig like megatroptimus said.

Similar boat here. Expensive car repairs and rising costs have destroyed my budget.

My plan going forward is NOT to buy the TFC Combiners. I'm very happy for those of you that like Herc and Uranus, but the figures are simply too damn big for me to display and too expensive.

I'm sticking to the FP/Maketoys scale myself. I love my FP Superion and FP Colossus is a grail of mine. So if it isn't in that scale, no thanks.

As for the upcoming/exsisting sets: I'm not a Menasor or Devastator fan. I might one day get Green Giant if I find it at an affordable price (after Colossus). My next combiner will be Computron, and there I'm buying the team, not the combiner if that makes sense. I really enjoy the science bots and want them to pose with Jetfire.

I don't think scale or the aesthetic thing is that big of a deal. I've got FP's Insecticons, War For Cybertron figures, Perfect Effects mini-bots, classics figures, and couple Bayformers all standing shoulder to shoulder on my shelves. None of them look out of place or like the odd man out. Well, Unicron kind of sticks out, but that's because he towers above everybody else. Honestly I think myriad grouping of figures makes my collection as whole look better.

Going forward I'm just gonna buy the stuff I like. I've pre-ordered the first two figures for Uranos, and will pre-order not-Menasor figures as they are made available. I bought Giant instead of Hercules. I'm not a huge Devey fan and Giant had a more agreeable price tag for my taste. I only bought iGear's Medical Specialist because Ratchet is still a gap in my collection and I don't feel the need to have a 2nd Ironhide. I'll continue to simply rely on the cool factor of each figure individually to determine whether to buy or not.

that was the funniest thing ive seen all day. thank you. :)

i ignored FP bruticus and superion, and ignored green giant.

im waiting for the better bruticus that will one day arrive. those hasbro bots just underwhelm me to death.

hercules, and uranos are a great start. i will get fp menasor. he can be the baby of the bunch being smaller cars anyways. maybe a defensor could be smaller as well and it wouldnt bother me.

i want predaking to be at least as big as the tfc combiners, so i hope tfc makes that team as well...

just my opinion. i am stoked someone is making these bots and tfc stuff looks awesome.

the others would be icing on the cake.

    i only REALLY care about
    devastator
    superion
    menasor
    bruticus
    and predaking.

any others that get done will be posibilities for me, but dont arent MUST buys.
